“Thanks to Twitter follower @herringroup for catching Bloomberg’s Betty Liu toss any Apple-related credibility she might have had out the slamming screen door in the span of just 4-5 seconds,” Rocco Pendola writes for TheStreet. “There’s no defense — none whatsoever — for what Liu said there. ‘Is there a product that can ‘save’ Apple?’ Is she freaking serious?”
Pendola writes, “I know there is absolutely not some devious Apple hatred campaign underlying financial media coverage, but when Liu makes such an absurd comment, she certainly doesn’t help my case. In fact, after you watch her — and that entire segment — you could, as a perfectly sane and logical person, wonder if something is up.”
MacDailyNews Take: Hey, Alix, can you cram more unsupported, baseless tripe into your fomenting?

Pendola writes, “How can Bloomberg allow a story — positioned as a news piece, mind you, not an opinion segment — to get on the air with that type of question and zero necessary context? If Liu is ad-libbing, she screwed up. If somebody wrote that for her and she read it off of the teleprompter like a talking head, just as bad. And to support the whole thing with graphs and charts on Android/Samsung’s market share and Apple’s margins without discussing a.) the Android/Samsung strategies and b.) where Apple’s margins have come from borders on dereliction of duty.”

MacDailyNews Take: Obviously, something is up and poor blank-eyed Betsy needs to leave the AAPL fomenting to more capable talking heads.

Hit. Whore.
Yup. He and Betty should get together and have a drink.
Was not Betty Lou one of the muppets?
Betty Liu needs a new pair of shoes….
I believe that Betty Lou was a Who living in Whoville.
It’s almost like Apple was running for President as a Republican or something.
😉
I like you, Thelonious. You get it.
Si.
me too
me three.
I’m serious!
I mean the “real issues” of Apple’s profitability are invisible while everyone focuses on the non-issue of how many phones Google and Samsung dump on the global market place. Never mind that Apple is raking in at least 70% of the mobile market profits. Never mind that 80% of iPhone users will be picking up another iPhone. Never mind that for all intents and purposes there is no “tablet market” only an iPad market. Never mind that for all intents and purposes statistics are showing that Android people don’t do commerce on their devices, only iPhone people do. Never mind that no one is making any serious money on Android apps and that Apple just paid (what was it announced today) 8 billion dollars to developers? Never mind that notwithstanding no actual tv, Apple has managed to reinvent TV and bring the concept of the 2nd screen to life via the iPad. Never mind that even with the same slump that hit everyone Macs are STILL selling better than PCs and that Dell had to take his own advice about Apple for his own company. Never mind that reviews of the Microsoft Surface and Windows 8 are almost universally bad. Never mind that Apple is opening what 20 more Apple Stores to meet demand? Never mind that Turkey of all places just bought 15 million iPads. Never mind Apple shipped 9 million iPads last quarter. Never mind the last quarter was the best quarter of any technology company ever.
You all know all this stuff and that I could easily go on and on, yet the media is like “What can save Apple?”
It is totally like being a Republican Presidential candidate. Next we’ll hear of Apple’s war on women.
Sad thing is Tim and Company aren’t accustomed to it. They’re like dear in the headlights. When the media collectively decides to vilify, suppress, and nullify, ain’t much you can do.
Took the words out of my mouth
The 20 stores are being closed because they are reminiscent of a New York subway car or a sardine tin. They will reopen with more floor space. Also add 30 new stores in the world.
Agree with you on every point but the republican presidential candidate analogy has to go… Why do all of your posts have to have a political spin? You seem like an intelligent man, but geez give it a rest already…
Right on the mark, except for one thing: it’s like Apple’s a democrat being reported on by Fox “news.”
Where’s its birth certificate?….
Betty Liu needs a new pair of shoes and a whole lot more, too.
That ‘something’ will be to make Apple the next Wal-Mart of backlashes and knee-jerks.
Big Media has to create villains for the low-info crowd.
I was thinking more like Fox news reporting about anything.
Not really,
1-Apple is not trying to screw over Grandma and Grandpa out of the Social Security they have paid into since their first jobs despite the fact that it has nothing to do with the deficit (The Grand Bargain/Betrayal).
2-Apple is not trying to deny half our population it’s right to medical privacy (Abortion).
3-Apple is not trying to rewrite history to deny that slavery existed in the pre Civil War South (Tennessee State Legislature).
4-Apple is not trying to deny established and peer reviewed science in textbooks used widely throughout America (Texas School Book Board).
5-Apple is not trying to suppress the study of or reporting upon climate change by public agencies (North Carolina).
6-Apple didn’t oppose the Stimulus and then pose for photo ops when Stimulus money filtered down to local government, claiming credit (Piyush “Bobby” Jindal- Louisiana).
7- Apple didn’t oppose the stimulus and then use stimulus funds to close the state’s deficit holes and then claim the balanced budget was because of fiscal conservatism (Rick Perry- Texas).
8- Apple didn’t oppose the stimulus claiming it would not create or preserve jobs and then apply for stimulus funds to create jobs in the home district (Paul Ryan- Wisconsin).
9- Apple didn’t sponsor the Dream Act and then rescind support when they found out the President would actually sign it (John McCain- Arizona).
There is more, but when it comes to dumbassery, nobody has anything on today’s RepubliCON Party.
“This opportunity – to make it to the middle class or beyond no matter where you start out in life – it isn’t bestowed on us from Washington. It comes from a vibrant free economy where people can risk their own money to open a business. And when they succeed, they hire more people, who in turn invest or spend the money they make, helping others start a business and create jobs. Presidents in both parties – from John F. Kennedy to Ronald Reagan – have known that our free enterprise economy is the source of our middle class prosperity. But President Obama? He believes it’s the cause of our problems.”
“Mr. President, I still live in the same working class neighborhood I grew up in. My neighbors aren’t millionaires. They’re retirees who depend on Social Security and Medicare. They’re workers who have to get up early tomorrow morning and go to work to pay the bills. They’re immigrants, who came here because they were stuck in poverty in countries where the government dominated the economy. The tax increases and the deficit spending you propose will hurt middle class families. It will cost them their raises. It will cost them their benefits. It may even cost some of them their jobs. And it will hurt seniors because it does nothing to save Medicare and Social Security. So Mr. President, I don’t oppose your plans because I want to protect the rich. I oppose your plans because I want to protect my neighbors.”
“Economic growth is the best way to help the middle class. Unfortunately, our economy actually shrank during the last three months of 2012. But if we can get the economy to grow at just 4 percent a year, it would create millions of middle class jobs. And it could reduce our deficits by almost $4 trillion dollars over the next decade. Tax increases can’t do this. Raising taxes won’t create private sector jobs. And there’s no realistic tax increase that could lower our deficits by almost $4 trillion. That’s why I hope the President will abandon his obsession with raising taxes and instead work with us to achieve real growth in our economy.”
“The real cause of our debt is that our government has been spending 1 trillion dollars more than it takes in every year. That’s why we need a balanced budget amendment. The biggest obstacles to balancing the budget are programs where spending is already locked in. One of these programs, Medicare, is especially important to me. It provided my father the care he needed to battle cancer and ultimately die with dignity. And it pays for the care my mother receives now. I would never support any changes to Medicare that would hurt seniors like my mother. But anyone who is in favor of leaving Medicare exactly the way it is right now, is in favor of bankrupting it.”
“Despite our differences, I know that both Republicans and Democrats love America. I pray we can come together to solve our problems, because the choices before us could not be more important. If we can get our economy healthy again, our children will be the most prosperous Americans ever. And if we do not, we will forever be known as the generation responsible for America’s decline.”
– Marco Rubio, Republican response to the statist Obama’s State of the Disunion 2013
Goddamnit, someone put this guy on the 2016 republican ticket as presidential candidate!
Nice copy and paste of Frank Luntz approved Republican talking points. The problem is Wonder Boy Rubio’s facts do not line up, just like his prior story about being an immigrant himself. Scratch the surface on a Republican and the color brown and small of bullshit will appear.
A I have said before, there are many legitimate things to criticize the President over. It is also true that Obama is about as far from a statist/socialist/communist/Manchurian Candidate as one could possibly be. At core Obama is a moderate Republican being attacked by people who dislike a black man in the White House but are afraid to say so publicly.
RepubliCONs are fond of claiming our is a center-right country, which it is not, and Obama should be their guy. On issue after issue Obama tracks with the mainstream of the Republican Party of the 1980’s- the glory days of Saint Reagan.
There is a culture shift going on in America away from the G.O.P. which is driving so much of the extreme Gerrymandering and voter suppression efforts ongoing within RepubliCON circles. Younger and better educated Americans simply do not hold to the core of the RepubliCON message like old, poorly educated white people do- the prime audience of Limbaugh, Hannity and Faux Newz.
“It is also true that Obama is about as far from a statist/socialist/communist/Manchurian Candidate as one could possibly be…”
That comment confirms my suspicions: you’re an idiot.
Your suspicions are wrong.
Obama is a liberal like the New York Yankees are a soccer team.
..amazing what the brainwashing of years of constant exposure to The Lie Machine® starring CiaNN, The Washington Compost and The Wall Street Urinal can do. You were probably intelligent at one time in the distant past, AP.
You mean like a Democrat running for a second term as President.
Oh wait!
That worked out pretty good.
Could these two bimbos look any more stupid?
They certainly made Bloomberg look stupid. It might as well have been a SNL sketch. I’d think serious women in finance would be pulling out their shotguns and gunning for these two bimbettes.
Nice Hair. I think the only thing that will save Apple is if the shut the doors and gave the money back to Michael Dell
Oh man, when they laugh and giggle about a supposed Apple Watch, I just cringe.
I told y’all yesterday, that the rumor mill was going to go crazy with this watch crap.
The good news is that the iWatch has taken over for the iTV. I think the Apple Product Rumor Manager who was tasked with making people believe that iRadio was a real project got canned because that one was so short lived. The person working this iWatch rumor is world-class effective compared to iRadio. The iTV Product Rumor Manager has probably been reassigned to iOS 7.1 since that rumor got out of control and not in a necessarily good way.
I wish Apple would take the time to do an interview or 2 from time to time and crush these clueless idiot’s statements. I wish my company had this problem that puts 1/4 billion dollars of profits every day in the bank. And having Apple roadkill like Dell, HP, Nokia, Blackberry, … spread everywhere you look in every market Apple enters. Yes, what will save Apple!
Clueless lying idiots!
Hear hear!!!!
Yes, if only many more companies were such terrible ‘failures’ like Apple the economy would be in great shape.
It seems like if the ‘newsies’ are feeling lazy, they just spout off something like “Apple is failing” etc.
Journalism is a steaming pile with a fork in it, a pile of body parts overdue at the mortician’s, an embarassment to primates, make that vertebrates, a cautionary tale to be told to squiggly infants on planet Urxx after the last Earthling suffocates in its own vomit after being tricked into viewing videos like this.
I guess that take away from your post is that you don’t like them either.
What?…and lend credibility to arrant nonsense?
No way. Never get dragged down into the gutter, there are too many deseased rats there. Let them eat each other.
Succes is not measured by actual meaningful financial gain. It’s measured by the analysts whim. Which they have been so far off in apple predictions over the years that you might think they were not not paying attention. Why does anyone listen to their advice on apple.
This is what you get when you place a higher premium on sounding intelligent instead of being intelligent.
Hey, at least you sound intelligent.
Air heads. Now showing on Bloomberg TV.
Excellent title for their show.
Magna Cum Laude Penn Grad, Ms Liu is.
Not exactly an Air Head, that would be Faux Newz Channel or TeaNN.
The only product that can save Apple is a big fscking bag that can hold all their monies.
I hear Tim Cook drove to the Goldman Sachs interview with a Dog on top of his car.
I hear he’s (gasp) richer than god also.
He’s evil I tell you.
He will be sitting with Ms Obama tonight.
Did he? Did anyone see him there? Not me.
Tim Cook sat in the same row- the family of the girl shot in Chicago was on one side and the NICU Nurse from NYC was on the other next to Ms Biden.
MSNBC coverage showed him.
Here is the Pic
TY Agent.
No product can save Apple, only Wozzie can and will save Apple.
Disclaimer: vote for Wozzie as the next chairman of the board. Thank you for you cooperation 🙂
You have got to be kidding. Steve Wozniak has become the second biggest doofas only behind Michael Dell. The ‘Woz’ is completely clueless about how to run a company or promote it or encourage new products or . . . .
On the other hand, Woz has become quite the promoter of Segway Polo. Makes for a cleaner playing field.
“makes for a cleaner playing field” ?
Is he tying a broom to his backside as he plays to clean up after himself?
Really, you are quite funny. No, I hadn’t thought of that. I was referencing the horses ridden in classic polo…Segways are a bit cleaner, if you know what I mean…
Ah yes! I did not think of that. I don’t have any exposure to that type of polo. I am more of a water polo guy – pretty clean as you know. Someone once tried it with horses but the horses kept drowning.
LOL. Keep it up, big guy.
Yes, perfect! Apple really needs a Chairman that takes every opportunity to say how “bad” and “behind” the company’s products are! Great choice, WozzieFan!
WozzieFan!
You know, lately I’ve come to appreciate your lonely campaign for a triumphant return of Steve Wozniak to Apple HQ. Countless Apple aficionados like me have become exhausted from the relentless attacks on The Miracle Company, especially the character assaults on Tim Cook. You’d think he was the reincarnation of John Wilkes Booth, only without any acting chops.
All right then, remove him from the limelight, return him to his previous berth where he shone, and crown Steve Wozniak, who after all is: Apple employee Number 1. The King is dead; long live the King.
I begin to see how this could work—your idea pulses with possibilities. First, the press has no answer for an original act like Wozniak, any more than they had for Jobs. In no time, they’ll be eating out of his hand. After all, all they ever really wanted was some Princess Diana-type copy that didn’t strain the grey cells but could pass as tech news instead of gossip.
Second, the surprise element resurfaces with Apple. That had disappeared with reliable, predictable supply-chain wonk Tim Cook, bitterly disappointing the gamblers, analysts, and pundits whose payoff was big if their hunches and inside sources proved true in an uncertain environment. Wozniak guarantees uncertainty.
Third, Wozniak hogs the spotlight, and eventually reporters will sidle off to find something new to expose or to bitch about. That allows Apple to shoulder past the morons clogging the hallway and reach the lab where they can get some actual work done.
Finally, Wozniak is a true geek. No one expects geeks to show brilliance in leadership, corporate management, product development, public relations, sensitivity to issues of global economics, political maneuvering, managing shareholder unease and investor sentiment, or anything else besides coming out of nowhere, some unknown time in the future, with an invention that takes over the world. They’ve all seen The Social Network.
I’m with you, WozzieFan. Bring back Steve!
dumb and dumber…
OMG! Haha!
She’s a real loser with nothing but hot air coming out of her stinky ASS!
I thought I was watching SNL.
Today’s news is really a joke.
Well, it doesn’t change the fact that she’s hot and I wouldn’t mind her sitting on my face.
That’s probably all she’s good for is sitting on somebody’s face.
Shut the fuck up you stupid whores.
Apple doesn’t need saving!
These stupid bimbos can’t even say “Wrist Watch” properly, let alone provide actual thoughts and ideas.
And riddle me this analyst morons, how the fuck do you think you will surf the web, take a call (just imagine how retarded you will look holding your wrist to your ear), etc on a device like that?
A smart watch realistically has about 4-5 actual usable functions, the rest of the clamoring is from stupid hipsters tech blog douchebags.
iWatch might work as a $50 accessory for iPhone, thats it. There is no way an iWatch can be the next big thing, the form factor is too limited.
What a loaded question.
what an idiot. sort of like saying “Is there a product that can save Mercedes or BMW?” Apple’s become the focus of every two bit dope with an opinion. Is that the price of success?
