“Best Buy has used its Insignia house brand to hop onto hot electronics trends from HDTVs to LED light bulbs, so it should come as no surprise to learn that there will soon be an Insignia tablet in store(s),” Sean Portnoy reports for ZDNet.
“On the brand’s Facebook page, the company announced the Insignia Flex Android tablet, which Best Buy promises will be available in a month,” Portnoy reports. “According to the post, the Flex will be based around a 9.7-inch screen, include a 1GHz dual-core processor, and run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Battery life is also claimed to be 10 hours between charges.”

MacDailyNews Take: More junk for the scrap heap.
This won’t save Best Buy. In fact, come January your customers will be bringing these things back.
I for one am going to go to best buy and buy at least 3 of these. I will not open them and I will be returning them unopened. Anyone else on board?
Dont waste your time! Do something more productive by going into an Apple store and buying a new iPad mini
besides Best Buy will count those as Christmas sales which might make them look good
Do something really productive that matters. Send some money and volunteer at the Salvation Army.

What?
Or spend a day helping your local food pantry raise some funds by manning a booth asking for canned donations …..
Say, if you give free food to people on social assistance, don’t you expect them to spend what little they have left on cigarettes, booze, drugs or Bingo?
Yet more noise for Google, Amazon, Microsoft and B&N to deal with.
I’m still using a microwave I bought in 1997 at Circuit City. They tried so hard to sell that extended warranty.
Got you beat.
My microwave was purchased in 1996!
But, but, did you buy the extended warranty?
I still use my LED alarm clock from 1981.
I use my microwave in my home. That must be inconvenient since they shuttered up 😉
Where does the line to the bargain bin start?
Really??? With all their problems what on earth would possess them to do something like that? Its like setting money on fire…
It will generate more business for their Freak Squad service.
“Freak Squad”… love it!
More tech dreck that pleases no one. But Best Buy saw a need that no one had and filled it!
“insignia” sounds like insignificant… appropriate. I heard It beat out “Irrelevia” and “Negligia” in the naming contest.
Insignia is the “In house” brand for Best Buy ( Future Shop here in Can’da) and has unwaveringly been the lower-priced generic garbage that you could only expect. I’ve wasted time with Insignia products when on a budget, and without fail returned the product days later for untold myriads of reasons.
At least the golf tournament charities will have a tablet to offer as prize.
Remember when Apple first released the iPad, everyone said,”WTF, there is no need for a 3rd screen”. That included most of the analysts and most of the companies like DELL, MS, HP, etc. Now, everyone plus Apple’s former toilet cleaner is releasing an Android tablet.
Here’s a list to make anyone laugh:
Amazon
Barns and Noble
Best Buy
Toys are Us
ASUS
Followed closely on the path where CISCO, RIM, and Dell failed by Home Depot, Walmart, Cosco. What are these “CEO’s” thinking.
Isn’t “jellybean” the most recent version of the android OS?
Who cares?
