    1. It looks like you’re good as long as you’re in a participating country. Read the fine print on the page (or click on the rules):

**The 25 Billion Apps Countdown Promotion is open to entrants who are 13 years of age or older (or the minimum age required by your country) at time of entry, and are located in a participating country. Void where prohibited

    2. Also says: “Entrants must enter the Promotion through the App Store accessible in the country in which they are located or through ”

Fear not, it appears to be world wide.

      1. Someone explain this to me: “*No purchase necessary to win. Click here to submit a free entry form.” How on earth do you have a chance of winning using the free entry form, when they’re giving away the $10,000 to the 25-Billionth download?

    1. I reported my fears about this to Apple, and here’s the reply I just received:

Thanks for taking the time to write. While it’s true that the contest page uses http, the form itself is embedded within an https iframe which ensures that submissions are transmitted securely. I’ve passed your comment along to the people who own the page to let them decide whether they want to do anything differently.

So I’m happy and I withdraw my complaint. Thanks Apple for being so responsive!

    1. The rest of what world? I thought that the world ended at the oceans and the Panama canal. I have heard of a mythical place to the north known as Canadia or something like that…

  1. I have been keeping track of the countdown with my family and have noticed apple’s countdown to be completely wrong. We have been whatsapping pictures of the countdown to each other in order to be able to start downloading once the countdown nears 25 billion. We have noticed the countdown to have gone backwards a large sum. If MacDailyNews is interested in the pictures for proof please email me to I believe Apple Inc. should be punished for cheating people with this erroneous countdown.
