“Behringer has rolled out three new mixers with iPad docking stations built-in,” Charles Starrett reports for iLounge.
The Apple iPad has opened a Pandora’s Box of opportunity for musicians. The iX docking station will send signal both two and from your iPad with a wide range of routing options. Tap into the hundreds of music apps including our own FX Processor that lets you dig deeper into your mic with top-notch EQs, studio-quality compressors and reverbs, plus a spectrum analyzer. With a wide variety to choose from in the app store, you can record to Garage Band, tune and monitor your rig through the room analyzer mic input, and more. The opportunities are endless. – Behringer
“The new Xenyx iX series includes the iX3242USB, iX2442USB and iX1642USB which offer 32, 24, and 16 inputs, respectively,” Starrett reports. “Each [mixer] uses the iPad for recording, system tuning, monitoring, and more.”

Anyone who buys Behringer, deserves it.
Absolutely unreliable stuff.
“two and from”?
Behringer: the pinnacle of crap audio gear. They are the top of the “pile.”
I’ll allow you your poor experience but it’s not mine. About 18 months ago on a visit to Pinewood Studios, one of the sound stages where they were doing production work for the Harry Potter ‘Deathly Hallows’ movie, was littered with Behringer gear – speakers, PA, mixers, mics, signal processing, recording…their gear was everywhere. Definitely not amateur hour you must agree.
They also manufacture cross-overs for many speaker makers and license their DSP tech widely.
My Truth studio monitors haven’t varied in reproduction quality in 5 years and I see no reason to replace them any time soon.
YMMV of course.
Behringer.
Pronounced Piece Of Junk.
Move along people, nothing to hear here.
Behringer has never filled me with confidence. I must say, though, that I love the concept. If someone could build what is essentially a work surface with mic pre-amps and use the processing power of an iPad…. that would be cool. …. Oh … and must have nice mic pre amps
I think Alesis just came out with the same sort of gizmo.
JBL 4312B studio monitor reference speakers paired with iPad.
And the winner:

And the real winner:
APPLE Inc. 😉
Alesis is nearly right down there with Behringer, Samson, Pyle and Nady. Crap-O-Rama.
But the IPad has wings…
PS: Alesis, behringer, Samson,Pyle and Nady are to Pro Audio what blogging is to real literature.
I foolishly bought about $3000 worth of Behringer gear and it really is just awful. They would degrade the signal to make the ‘original stuff” to need improvement, then when you hit all the buttons, everything sounded great. And all you were listening to was what you had originally. Absolute rubbish.
I find MDN’s hypocrisy interesting here. On the one hand, they (rightly) slam companies like Samsung who shamelessly rip off the design and IP of Apple, yet give coverage to another company (Behringer), who is every bit the shameless hack that Samsung is (they’ve ripped off both Mackie and Boss just for starters).
Spot on; Behringer are the biggest rip-off artists in the audio biz.
You should really look at the DL1608 from Mackie — also introduced at this year’s NAMM show. Check out this Funky Video
It’s a 16 channel live digital mixer with EQ, Compressors, Limiter, FX, etc… but all controlled with your iPad — either in the dock or wirelessly. And you wirelessly connect up to 10 iPads for band members to control their own mixes. Very cool!!!
Hoped maybe it was a kitchen mixer with a dock. Might as well be.
Not to pile on, but I’m going to pile on 🙂 Behringer and Mackie – bottom of the barrel. Mackie used to be pretty good a long time ago, in a galaxy that was Washington State, but no longer, just Loud junk. Behringer has just always been crap. Too bad they’re taking down the Midas name with them.
Cool ideas from both but now we just need higher-end companies stepping up and actually implementing them.
I can only emphasize what has been said before: DO NOT SUPPORT OR BUY BEHRINGER! These fuckers make a living by producing the absolute lowest grade shite quality imaginable. (Alright, I’m sure you could find even worse quality in the streets of HongKong). Adding insult to injury, basically everything they do is ripping of established concepts, repackaging the stuff and cash in on people too dumb to look closer.
