“The security protocol that enables Siri to communicate with Apple’s servers and return information via speech recognition has been cracked by developer Applidium,” Joe Aimonetti reports for CNET.
“In a nutshell, according to Applidium, ‘anyone could now write an Android app that uses the real Siri!’ The technology that Siri uses to communicate with Apple servers is not HTTP, as many developers may suspect,” Aimonetti reports. “In fact, Apple uses TCP to connect with Siri.”
Aimonetti reports, “Applidium is working on its crack tools for adding Siri to other devices. Currently, Applidium’s crack tools link (here) does not result in a product… Of course, all of this information is subject to change, as Apple is generally very quick and extremely adept at sealing security concerns, especially when it involves one of its prized products. I expect to see a restructuring of Siri’s security protocol in the iOS 5.0.2 update.””

MacDailyNews Take: Apple will never allow Android settlers access, no matter how badly they want Siri.
It would be great if, once Apple detects an Android product, programs Siri to say something like: “Sorry, I don’t deal with thieves.”
It’ll be cool if Siri can detect Android users trying to hack into her system and cause their phones to do crazy things!
Porting Siri, an Apple owned technology, is theft. I suggest Apple identify the thieves when they access the Siri servers, warn them they’re stealing, and then brick their phones. End of problem.
Siri is google search killer, that would be great if it ports to android, google will die much faster… haha 😀
That has to be the most limp-wristed, sorry, lame-ass attempt at a flamebait/taunt I’ve ever seen. You LOSE. Here’s a REAL taunt… Ahem (clears throat)…
” I don’t want to talk to you no more, you empty headed animal food trough wiper! I fart in your general direction!” Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!!”
Rats. My post ended up in the wrong place. (Sigh)…. please disregard.
That’s okay, it was about as effective right where it is…
The interesting thing would be if Apple lets this slide.
Since Andrioid ‘makes’ all of its money off of search and advertisements essentially Apple could use Andrioid to bleed Google dry.
Theft of computer resources from a large company (any company) will bring down a legal apocalypse. This kind of stuff is not taken lightly, its not like violating EULA.
All this does is solidify the fact that Android is a poor knockoff, definitely not the image you want to project considering all the legal difficulties its facing.
Apple didn’t “invent” Siri, it bought it !! Google will have a similar app very soon anyway, they already have a basic “assistant” and have had voice input to phones long before Apple. You only have to look at the stats on phone “connections” Apple iPhones have already dropped behind Android in Australia and Europe, and all the market share diagnostics companies are predicting that Windows phones will overtake Apple phones by 2014. Apples market share worldwide has halved over the last 12 months. The continuing sophistication of Android phones (happening because of competition between manufacturers) will ensure continued ascendancy in the market. Nokia’s union with Windows will produce another major competitor to Apple in both Smart-phones and Tablets ( Nokia to make Tablets for 2012) Note also that the only tablet that can play 1080P HD movies is currently the Blackberry Playbook with true symmetric multitasking (try that on your iPad !!) A’int competition great !!
