Apple Store currently offline (UPDATED: Store back online)

Apple’s online store is currently offline, displaying the familiar message that often, but not always, precedes new product additions:

We’ll be back soon. We are busy updating the store for you and will be back shortly.

UPDATE: 11:10am EDT: The store is back online. No new products are immediately apparent.

Visit the Apple Store here.

  1. I’m not able to get to the store at all. No “We’ll be back soon” message, just :

Explanation: The request timed out before the page could be retrieved.

    Try the following:
Refresh page: Search for the page again by clicking the Refresh button. The timeout may have occurred due to Internet congestion.
Check spelling: Check that you typed the Web page address correctly. The address may have been mistyped.
Contact website: You may want to contact the website administrator to make sure the Web page still exists. You can do this by using the e-mail address or phone number listed on the website home page.

    1. It is an affiliate’s link. If you visit the store through that link and make a purchase, Apple pays commission to MDN. Most of my recent Macs (over the past four years or so) have been purchased that way. Pricing is the same (including Education pricing), and MDN continues to exist. I figure, this is how I earn my right to block Flash ads…

      1. Thanks for that explanation. Link still isn’t working though. No apple store as far as I can see. Tried it at work on the corp network, and tried it via 3G on my iPhone. No store.

      2. ls the MDN link valid for those who don’t live in the Excited States?

If, f’rinstance, someone in any other country used that link, would the transaction go through, thereby risking import taxes and ripoff currency-exchange rates or would Apple prevent the sale?

  2. Something is fishy with the Internet today. Many firms out of CA are having connection problems, even Apple.

OOMA a nationwide phone service based out there has been down most of the morning and that is highly unusual.

IMHO Homeland Security should be alerted to investigate this and other service outages today.

If this is the result of Anon or some similar group who think they are cool, I am of the opinion they should treat them just like Bin Laden, a night raid and a few bullets to the center of the head followed by using thermite on all their computers.

The US needs to stop playing around like a bunch of woosies, and act decisively in the war on cyber terror.

  3. Hm, funny. Two hours ago I walked by Apple Store on Boylston Street in Boston and some people were working on something, and I mean construction work. Can it really be merely a coincidence? Perhaps, since there are no new products online.
