“Apple yesterday launched the iPad 2 in China, officially bringing its six Wi-Fi capable models (three black and three white) to the country for the first time. M.I.C gadget has an extensive gallery of photos from the launch at Apple’s Sanlitun retail store in Beijing, where hundreds of customers waited in line for the 8:00 AM launch and supplies sold out in just four hours,” Eric Slivka reports for MacRumors.

“Apple also launched sales through its online store in China, debuting with shipping estimates of 1-2 weeks,” Slivka reports. “But even those supplies quickly dried up and the company’s online store has stopped taking orders for all six models of the device, simply noting “no supply” as a shipping estimate.”

But the Hello Kitty model is selling the best.
Hello Kitty is Japanese
That’s funny because it’s here in the U.S., too.
The U.S. market is nothing vs China… AAPL becoming a Trillion$ company is very possible… unless the market crashes again….
Apple should not repatriate its overseas profits to the US. The US tax regime is the highest in the world and is a burden to hard-working companies. The US is a bankrupt and corrupt country due to its own doing. It squandered all its advantages due to the stupid policies of the US government for the past 30 years. Apple, by retaining its cash hoard earned profits overseas will guarantee that its cash will not be misused by the US government on wasteful programs.
The United States is turning into a third-world economy and whichever productive companies that remained in US soil will be taxed to death. If worse comes to the worse, Apple should consider moving its headquarters and operations to more stable countries.
Vsp is right. Canada is a logical HO location with new Conservative majority government with a budget that brings fed tax rate to 15%, provincial rate is 10%. No repatriation tax.
Shareholders wd be way better off, and we have very good computer science faculties…
As a world marketer with larger sales outside US, as Robert Redford said, “there has to be a better way”. That way is north.
In that case you guys should just recommend Apple to relocate to Hong Kong, or even Dubai for that matter, where there is zero capital gains tax and in many cases even effectively zero income or profits tax.

Everybody was kung-fu fighting
Those cats were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit frightning
But they fought with expert timing
They were funky China men from funky Chinatown
They were chopping them up and they were chopping them down
It’s an ancient Chineese art and everybody knew their part
From a feint into a slip, and kicking from the hip
Everybody was kung-fu fighting
Those cats were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit frightning
But they fought with expert timing
There was funky Billy Chin and little Sammy Chung
He said here comes the big boss, lets get it on
We took a bow and made a stand, started swinging with the hand
The sudden motion made me skip now we’re into a brand knew trip
Everybody was kung-fu fighting
Those cats were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit frightning
But they did it with expert timing
(repeat)..make sure you have expert timing
Kung-fu fighting, had to be fast as lightning
So how is it that Motorola can get more than enough Xooms made, Samsung can get more than enough Galaxy Tab things made and RIM can get more than enough Playbooks made, etc.?
Maybe if they all stopped wasting components and factory facilities for crud that’s hardly selling Apple’d be able to make enough iPad to meet demand?
Wouldn’t work. All the competition combined is just a pimple on Apple’s backside.
Yep, as the good news continues to come in, the stock goes lower and lower, what the xxck is going on?
