  1. OK, I want all you people to GET OFF the net, and stay off for about 10 minutes. That should give me enough time to finish downloading this update.

Seriously though, it’s going at a snail’s pace. Around 80-90kB/s (and my BW is 1500kB/s), and it’s got 62 minutes remaining. Whatever happened to that server farm just down the road from me?

And this is my 2nd try. First time it was d/l at near my max speed and finished in about 5 minutes, then said a network error occurred and I needed to try again. Now it’s slow as molassas.

    1. Apple Fragmentation starts now.

No one can poke fun at Google anymore…

Apple and iOS are now just as fragmented.

iPhone + iOS 4.21 works slow.
      iPhone + iOS 4.3 won’t work.
      iPhone 3G + iOS 4.21 works slow.
      iPhone 3G + iOS 4.3 won’t work.
      iPhone 3GS + 4 only supported on iOS 4.3!

Welcome to the club Apple fanboys 😉

      1. Yea- that’s analogous. The 3G is almost 3 years old. The Droid X, which isn’t even a year old, doesn’t even ship with Froyo, which isn’t even the most recent version of Android.

Try not to reach so much: you might pull something.

        1. Oh hell….4.3 isn’t even compatible with my Motorola StarTac…this thing is still in near perfect condition so I know it’s not the phone. Apple sucks! Who wants my 15″ MacBook Pro? :O)

      2. Fragmentation from Google ASCENDS as new products are release revealing a problem that has no apparent end because it is ongoing. Apple like every other single tech company, fragments backwards or descending with their products.

  2. According to one review of the iPad-2, more than half of the gain in its speed over iPad-1 is due to the iOS 4.3 upgrade … not the hardware improvements in the device.

    1. Apparently, it’s the GSM iPhone owners that are slow to get updated. Verizon users don’t need the update immediately since most of its features are included in iOS 4.2.6.

    1. It was from the Boy Genius Report. If that name does not imply arrogant hubris, nothing does. The Boy Genius Report is infallible. They are never wrong. Just ask them.

What pisses me off is that frigtard bloggers who arrive at their conclusions by anal extraction get published. And then some equally retarded journalist quotes their flawed analysis. Then Rex Crum on MarketWatch quotes the journalist, then Jim Cramer. Next thing you know. Apple stock is off $5 because of bullshit like this. And it all started with some 34 year old loser who hates Apple writing on his old Dell in his bedroom of his parents’ house, because he’s such a loser that he doesn’t have a real life, and STILL LIVES AT HOME WITH THIS MOM AND DAD.

Am I pissed? You bet. I HATE rumor sites.

    1. I decided to use Sharing to stream a video from my iMac to my iPhone and then Airplay it to my TV….because I can (pointlessly)… and then my TV popped up with an available update.

Big day at the big Apple!

    2. Yeah, I downloaded the GM when it became available and used it to stream a movie from the iMac upstairs to my iPad. Very cool and couldn’t be easier.

But the best part is I got my rotation lock switch back!

  3. When in the hell are we going to be able to download updates directly onto our devices? iOS is the only modern mobile software platform that still suffers under this archaic practice.

    1. Advantages:
      1. Simple

      Disadvantages:
      1. It’s a 670MB download!
      2. Without backing up your device there is no chance for recovery if something goes wrong.

I am not inconvenienced by downloading to the computer before installing. Overall I think it’s the more reliable method. Just recently Microsoft bricked a bunch of Samsung phones during an over the air update.

  4. I do not know where you are getting this! That Apple released 4.3 is Not True! at least here in the U.S. My iTunes says 4.2 is most recent. I called Apple and they said it will not be released until Friday. Please correct!

    1. John, I’m in Oklahoma, and I just updated both my iPhone 4 and iPad to iOS 4.3, so it definitely is a go. Updated the Apple TV OS too, it’s now 4.2. Maybe it’ll show up when you try again later. I think I had the same thing happen to me with an earlier release. Heavy server traffic maybe?

  5. I thought for sure this time that my problem had been solved. No additional data plans for my iPad 2, just use the iPhone 4 as a hotspot. Now I see where a tethering plan is required with our carrier. Figures……..

  6. or just waiting for the jailbreak, can’t function through the day with out, Quickreply, SB settings, MiWi, iFile, and Safari downloader(which be very nice with the new nitrojava).

I’ll probably update the wifey’s iPhone, she’s no fun and won’t let me jailbreak her iPhone.

  7. Your collective whining is exactly why I wait a day or two. You remind me of a cluster of lemmings gleefully following each other off a cliff. I LOVE Apple. But if there was a bug in 4.3, I would kinda sorta like to know. And if I race to be the first to download it, I am now a beta tester.

Children, don’t get your shorts in a knot. iOS 4.3 will be here tomorrow and the next day. So get a life. Breathe. Wait a day or two to make sure it works.

    Have a nice day.

    1. @Brian

If everyone waited for someone else to try first, then no one would try……… Maybe you could try being a little less offended by posts to a blog. Complaints are usually welcome here……

  8. Just confirmed with both Apple and AT&T that a tether plan is required for the hotspot feature. Can’t go back to unlimited data plan after switching. I’m glad that Apple tends to make multifaceted upgrades so I won’t have to be so disappointed web one aspect of an upgrade turns out not-so-feasible because of crap-faced carriers chasing MORE money. As if AT&T doesn’t already make money hand-over-fist……..
