HP bastardizes Lou Reed song in commercial featuring bastardized iPad (with video)

“It seems but a year ago that famed right-wing singer Stephen Colbert launched the iPad at the Grammys,” Chris Matyszczyk reports for CNET. “Principally because it was.”

  1. The concept itself isn’t bad, neither are the images. But something went horribly wrong with the execution. I think it was that fake Lou Reed voice and the strained lyrics. At least Honda had the good sense to pay Lou to close the deal by actually being in the commercial. Of course, few today would recognize Reed, which begs the question: Why use that song?

    1. This song–Lou Reed was shocked when it became popular–is about transvestites going to the big city to become prostitutes. They are cheap and cheesy, but people pay a lot for their output.

      Sounds about right.

  2. HP will beat Apple to the punch on the nano phone and Apple is running scared. Apple’s days of being first on everything is over. Toast. Unlike Microsoft, no one is saying they’ll fall off the map and I like Apple. But their decade is up and it’s going to be a fight to remain innovative.

  3. “Right-wing singer”? What’s the connection to the topic? Nothing!! I guess this “Left-wing writer” can’t see the sun because his head’s in a place that precludes him from seeing it. This just proves that journalism is a lost art. Do they pay this guy? With so many people out of work why should they??
