“In this week’s State of the Union address, President Obama outlined the need for the United States to “out-innovate the rest of the world”. We couldn’t agree more. Attempting to copy others is a surefire recipe for second-class status,” Michael Yoshikami, President & Chief Investment Strategist, YCMNET Advisors, writes for CNBC.
“The United States need to be a leader in thought, design, and execution. Economic victory requires nothing less,” Yoshikami writes. “But is there a model America can follow? Is there a corporation that epitomizes innovation that can be a learning lesson for other companies? The answer is yes; Apple. Apple has demonstrated what can be done with visionary leadership and courageous creativity.”
Yoshikami writes, “It’s not unlike thinking 10 steps ahead in a chess match. Grandmasters that follow this path are the ones that win championships, not those that merely react to the current environment. Thinking ahead, and in a way that alters the product/service landscape, is the Apple way.”
“America must play to win and not rest on past successes. A new history begins now. The past is irrelevant. AMERICA MUST PLAY TO WIN starting today,” Yoshikami writes. “While the rest of the world may have been tempted to give up on the United States, they take the leader of the economic world lightly at their own risk. It takes discipline, commitment, and innovation; all of which America can summon if the desire to win is strong enough.”
Yoshikami writes, “Yes, this is this generations [sic] Sputnik moment; will America rise up and meet the challenge? We believe the United States will shock the world with it’s resilience. And we believe the challenge will be met. The alternative is second place and something America dislikes. Winning matters in America.”

MacDailyNews Take: Debt-free Apple spends less money than it takes in and has banked a vast surplus for the future. America has a long, long, long way to go to be like Apple.
[Thanks to MacDailyNews Readers “Arline M.” and “iWill” for the heads up.]
He also Podcasts his shows on iTunes in case you miss one or want to listen the next day. The cost, it’s free. Priceless actually. He was just talking about The Law by Frederick Bastiat.
Hopefully the commies in charge won’t destroy the US to the point where even Apple Inc. won’t be able to operate here anymore.
This site is so much fun when it’s getting political! I do have to admit that as a citizen from main land europe especially the comparisons of Obama voters to leftists and even marxists are particularly hilarious. Obama isn’t a communist, not even a ‘lefty’. He’s in the middle of the political spectrum at best.
Besides that, I hope the political right gets it’s thing done. They’ve been tearing apart US education for decades and will continue to do so. The first signs are already there of the US loosing it’s name as a superpower, the true impact of this is going to show itself in the coming years. Have fun!
btw. Excuse me for grammatical/spelling errors if there are some to be found, I tried my best but English is not my native language.
JWaltman,
Barrack Osama is as Marxist as it gets. You really have no clue what you are talking about. And we conservative Americans do not compare the way we run our country to the disaster that the rest of the world is. So keep laughing and being confused. Don’t forget to clean the drool off of your Euro-tee-shirt.
@Nasree
Perhaps you should look up the definition of Marxism and Communism before you start flinging the lable around so liberally. You tell me which Marxist would endorse bailing out the foundations of the capitalist establishment i.e Banks , Insurance companies , and Auto makers. Your political naivete is only trumped by your stupidity and lack of vision.
@Nasree
You are exactly what I meant, you have no clue what communism is.
And you can think of the rest of the world what you want, but what you think doesn’t need to be the truth. At least here (The Netherlands) we have lower crime rates, lower debt, lower rate of homicides, universal and cheaper health care (you might be getting this too though), good social welfare..etc.
It’s funny you think the rest of the world is a total disaster though, as if “the rest of the world” is one thing. And of course you compare it to other countries, you don’t want to be worse would you?
Can you give an example of how other 1st world countries as a whole are doing so much worse then the USA? Or are you talking about countries like Ireland and Greece being in debt? Like in the USA some states are in trouble?
Besides this all, I think a bit more respect could be show to Europe and it’s citizens.
Can you please name some Marxist ideas that Obama has? I could be wrong about this and would love to be shown otherwise.
Apple is not a dictatorship, Apple is a corporation. Dictatorships need not adhere top laws they don’t like. Dictatorships are rarely benevolent although even the worst dictatorships may have had some benevolent aspect to them. It amazes me some of the idiotic vitriol comming out of some of the people that post here on both sides of the fence. Forget where Apple manufactures because if it wasn’t China it would be somewhere else. The message in the state of the union seemed to be we need more out of the box thinking from our leaders of corporate industry rather than trying to just create schemes to wring more money out of tired ideads that do nothing to grow real wealth.
Correction: America needs to be more like China, if they want to stay competitive in the new world order that’s to happen within 20 years.
Bobchr,
Maobabma didn’t do a bailout he did a take over and give away to the Unions. It’s government motors now.
It’s all being done in steps all over the place. The intent is to collapse the system and remake it in Maobama’s communist wonderland. Only you dense fools wouldn’t notice. The rest of the US is on to it.
bkire,
great idea, brilliant. be more like red China. that wonderful place full of freedom. kiss my ass you idiot.
@ JWaltman
I think Amsterdam is a wonderful place. Last time I was there, I spent an hour just sitting in front of the Night Watch at Rijksmuseum.
Don’t worry about “Nasree”, “Larry”, “At the Dimwit Socialists”, and their ilk. They really are nothing more than an intellectually and morally bankrupt minority. Even though the center in the US has moved significantly to the right, enough so that Eisenhower would be tarred a liberal, there is still a core of honest, logical people who will support the administration. Contrary to blatherings of the faux conservatives here, the President’s centrist ‘State of the Union’ speech garnered a better than 83% approval/favorable rating, the Fox News noise machine notwithstanding.
The left has moved so far left that they can’t hide their intentions anymore. The left of today would hate JFK. End game is communism period. You Marxists won’t state what the end game is because you are afraid that will be the end of you. We’re on to you and we won’t stop putting a stop to it. School boards, local town boards, state, national, judges. We are going to forgo the private sector to take you freaks out of power. It’s happening all around us right now and won’t stop until we put you commies back out of power. Good riddance.
No conservative is saying that we don’t like the scenery in Europe or anywhere else in the world. We just hate your ways of life.
@ Hank.
Could you please explain “We just hate your ways of life.”? What is this “european -and elsewhere- in the world way of life” you mention?
Did you meant to say you hate the way people are living all over the world, except in the USA? You really just said this, this is a pretty bold and big opinion. So why do you hate the way of living of everyone in the world except for US citizens? (Although I assume you mean only the people that agree with your political point of view, no democrats allowed)
JWaltman,
I assume what Hank is talking about is your anti-US lifestyles. Anti-capitalism, anti-private property, anti-rights, anti-individual, etc. Democrats want to turn the USA into the rest of world. Preferably the worst communist dictatorship you can think of. That is the end game for them.
@8^þ
I hope you are right, not even that, I know you are right! Problem is, you and people alike seems to be getting in a bigger minority, it’s a shame. The USA is still a country with great potential but it used to be so much more, the USA used to be the epitome of knowledge, science and innovation but not anymore.
And for some people here. I don’t hate the USA, not at all! Your country has been of great importance of our worlds history in the last century, it has been the engine to get us all to this era of information & technology, it was also our savior from Hitler, how could I not like the USA?
Even though I might not agree with a lot of people from there, I do have respect for what its people have done.
I’m only explaining my concern for it, the USA used to be governed by reason and forward thinking. Nowadays it seems to be governed by superstition and trying to keep thinking where it is. It’s a shame of such a country.
@ Natman
Anti-Captilism : Europe is capitalist, free market. If you think it ain’t so, please explain.
Anti- Private Property : Why is Europe against this? I have my own apartment. What do you mean?
Anti-Rights : People here have more rights then in the USA, Gay people can marry- woman can have a legal abortion. Free travel between most countries. What rights do I miss?
Anti Individual: What do you even mean with this? People can at least be atheist without problem here, or be gay.
Do you have any idea what you are talking about? I’ve seen FOX items about Europe (and Netherlands/Amsterdam) which where not even painfully wrong, just big fat lies. Do you know Europe from FOX? Maybe you have real life experience from here, but if it that is so, I’m really curious where you went.
@ Natman, I know you werent attacking me, just to be clear. Just making a point. Although I think it’s not helping
” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />
So all that is left from either side is mudslinging? This is the state of the US today?
Very well written and interesting article. Rug Cleaning Canberra
The only people who accuse Obama of being a communist, Marxist, or socialist are dipshits who have no clue at all what communism, Marxism, or socialism are.
Is he attempting to wrest control of the government away from the wealthiest 1% of America and give power to the people? No. His interests lie in corporate wellfare and maintaining the plutocracy.
Yet you’re saying that Obama’s is trying to collapse the system in order to create a “communist wonderland”…A place in which he himself would cease to have all of his money, power, and influence.
You’re so dimwitted it hurts.
I followed his speech of the Union, the other day, and undoubtedly, Obama gives the best indication of the USA since ages.
Hope US citizen have the capacity to appreciate to, finally, have a very smart and reality conscious president…
You foreigners are clueless. Maobama and comrades would be able to keep their money. They have made over 700 exemptions for there new illegal take over of our World Class health care system that will be over turned eventually. You world citizens are so brainwashed that you don’t even realize how taken over your lives are by the government. You probably like having some “elitist” tell you how and what to do. Pathetic. We Americans don’t live that way. Maobama wants us to be like you the problem is we don’t want to be anything like you. You speak of trying to keep things the way they were???? We’re trying to keep the best system on Earth from being destroyed by people like you. You need to read “The Law” by Frederick Bastiat available at Amazon for pennies and educate yourselves.
Great posts conservatives!
@ JimmyJackNYC

Is it really that bad to have the best option possible governing the country?
This is from dictionary.com, maybe you have a different definition? And if so, where did you get this from?
I hope you are not just parroting right wing propaganda without actually using your own brain to evaluate their assertions.
Good luck with your “best system on Earth” though.
