America needs to be like Apple

Apple Online Store“In this week’s State of the Union address, President Obama outlined the need for the United States to “out-innovate the rest of the world”. We couldn’t agree more. Attempting to copy others is a surefire recipe for second-class status,” Michael Yoshikami, President & Chief Investment Strategist, YCMNET Advisors, writes for CNBC.

“The United States need to be a leader in thought, design, and execution. Economic victory requires nothing less,” Yoshikami writes. “But is there a model America can follow? Is there a corporation that epitomizes innovation that can be a learning lesson for other companies? The answer is yes; Apple. Apple has demonstrated what can be done with visionary leadership and courageous creativity.”

Yoshikami writes, “It’s not unlike thinking 10 steps ahead in a chess match. Grandmasters that follow this path are the ones that win championships, not those that merely react to the current environment. Thinking ahead, and in a way that alters the product/service landscape, is the Apple way.”

“America must play to win and not rest on past successes. A new history begins now. The past is irrelevant. AMERICA MUST PLAY TO WIN starting today,” Yoshikami writes. “While the rest of the world may have been tempted to give up on the United States, they take the leader of the economic world lightly at their own risk. It takes discipline, commitment, and innovation; all of which America can summon if the desire to win is strong enough.”

Yoshikami writes, “Yes, this is this generations [sic] Sputnik moment; will America rise up and meet the challenge? We believe the United States will shock the world with it’s resilience. And we believe the challenge will be met. The alternative is second place and something America dislikes. Winning matters in America.”

  1. Boy, talk about low information posters. This thread is just nonsense. Are the primary readers of MDN actually a bunch of racist 13 year olds?

America is not Apple and will never be. Apple is driven by logic, reason and goals that extend beyond “making sure Obama is a one term president.” It includes all comers on the basis of their abilities, not their race or sexual proclivities.

One earlier poster opined that Apple had actual cash and America should try that. Good thought, except when America was heading that direction at the end of the Clinton Administration, Bush came in and said “if the government is taking in excess money (paying down its debt) then taxes are too high”. So he reduced revenue. That would be like Apple saying “We’re making money on every item we sell, so let’s start reducing prices until we start losing money.”

    You twerps are clueless.

  2. Talk about full of crap! Your take on history is so far off base it’s delusional. The Republican congress was balancing the budget. Then 9/11 happened from Clinton’s lack of terrorist intelligence. You effing RACIST. Liberals are the biggest racists of all. Pitting everyone against each other and stirring up jealousy to with the pions to get the liberal elite more power.

To the Eurotrash, We left your hell hole life style to create the USA. The last thing we want to do is emulate you. Maobama wants to because he and his fellow Marxists are out to take down the US and recreate it modeled after China or Cuba. Everyone, I mean everyone is on to this crap now. 2012 will be fun at the voting booths.

  3. Hate to comment but,

    “Obama’s “Sputnik moment” – that of January 4, 1958, that is – arrives on November 8, 2011.

Obama could have done something meaningful and dealt with Social Security and Medicare and other entitlements, instead the ball-less wonder does nothing as usual. Go golfing instead.

Possessing no experience and no idea what makes American great is why Obama is a very poor U.S. President.”

It is clear that you mistake a President with a King or Dictator. The President cannot make laws. They are created in the House and passed by the Senate. Sadly, many of todays politicians just want to go back to the good old days…. which will not work as those days have come and gone.

Today is the good old days of the future. We must look ahead…. not back.. Does Apple look back and try to live in the past… ???

    Just a though,.

  4. @Hank the Tank

You. wrong, Hank. I pretty normal. Don’t send me to hell. I’m looking the same as the others here. That’s what people think, if they have to live in that mess. By what law, I’m asking, you think America “felt it their duty to set them up that way to give their people a better chance”? I’m not asking about right to have a feelings in that matter, I’m asking why you act based on that feelings. Who gave you the right? You yourselves. And then, : “What they choose to do with that chance is up to them”. Oh really? Because what, because they did not want to be led by you by the hand? If you’d be a little more sophisticated which I belive you are not, you’d know that America, The Government, wanted to put their dirty hands on their oil. That is why you go for the war at first place. But they are telling you lies that they do it for the people. And you belive them. How can somebody not see that. Please, I strongly recommend you this document
