Verizon fuels rumors with tweet from Twitter for iPhone

Custom ZAGG Skins for iPhone 4!Electronista reports, “Verizon helped spark talk regarding its iPhone plans with a lone post using the official Twitter iPhone client. While the post itself has no clues of its own, it’s the only one from several days of searching to use an iOS app. All other posts normally come from CoTweet or TweetDeck.”

MacDailyNews Note: The tweet from Verizon has since been removed from Twitter, but MacNN has a screenshot here.

  1. @what????: MDN has an electronic track machine that can decider any and all Internet Traffic (on loan from Al Gore). With that machine, they can capture all info from Twitter as well. As far as defining for you, it is beyond comprehension as the answer would not be done in caps.

  2. Why is this news? It obviously came from CES … maybe someone used his buddy’s iPhone to tweet something. It doesn’t say Twitter for Verizon iPhone APP. How would anyone be able to tell if it was sent via Verizon or AT&T?

  3. If you use the official Twitter App on an ipod touch, it also says “Twitter for iphone,” although it would be pretty retarded if someone from Verizon was tweeting on an ipod touch,

“They must have reworked the AT&T 5yr contract;…”

Yes they did, 3 years ago. I have been saying that (here) every week for the last couple months (over and over) when someone would bring up the 5 year contract as a reason why the verizon iphone rumors weren’t true.

When Apple and AT&T reworked the contract to allow for a locked down subsidized phone (at the launch of the 3G) the contract was rewritten (obviously) The terms of that contract were never made public, so no one (outside a few AT&T and Apple executives) knows what the revised contract said, nor what the term limits of that contract were.

Well… we do have a pretty good guess of the time limit now don’t we? ;;-)

  5. For those that don’t understand how Apple was able to reduce the ATT contract by a year, remember it’s all in the negotiations. Apple is in the drivers seat for the upcoming contract. There would be nothing preventing Apple from releasing new phones for Verizon first and making ATT wait 2 to 6 months. ATT can’t afford to piss Apple off and needs to play nice.

  6. Twitter for iPad would have been OK, though, because you can use an iPad with a MiFi. You can’t use an iPod Touch with a MiFi, that’s just scientific fact. Just like how the moon is made of cheese.

  7. I need T-Mobile to get the iPhone. Please Steve!

Oh, and Tom you are wrong. Mifi works for the iPad and iPod touch. But, if you don’t want a contract get one at Radio Shaak from Virgin Mobile.

  8. If this is all false, WSJ is going to look really bad for a long time… Why is it that no one, or the press, or the analyst talking about the “no data access while on the phone” using Verizon network issue? Has that been resolved somehow? If so I must have missed the memo or something…
