Survey shows increasing wave of multiple iPad households

Apple Online Store“We all know this is set to be an iOS Christmas — now it is interesting to discover that Apple’s iPad is so popular there’s an increasing wave of two or more iPad households, according to reputable research from YouGov,” Jonny Evans reports for 9 to 5 Mac.

“Researchers found nearly a fifth (17%) of Apple iPad owners state that there is more than one tablet in their household, either owned by themselves or another family member,” Evans reports.

Evans reports, “The main reason for owning more than one tablet in the household is due to other family members using the tablet.”

  1. We have two, my son & wife have two, a daughter and her husband have two. At thanksgiving we were all iPadding away racing, scrabbling. Pretty weird when you think about it.

  2. Would be nice to edit posts….

We have three 64GB iPad 3G units. Spouse uses one. We had to get her that shortly after I got one. It was a battle every day for the device. Then we were provided one (in addition to our two). It is the same model and just sits around as a backup. Interestingly, my wife uses the iPad most of the time. I found over time I have used it less.

Our household also has two MacBook Pros and one iPad. Man, Apple really makes money on us…

  3. @Jersey_Trader

I was two days ago in one bar and everybody had MacBook Pros and iPads. The owner had the Facebook open.. People ordered their drinks via Facebook. There was no talking at all, only the music was playing. Even people sitting next to each other chatted via Facebook. That was spooky.

  4. One here (household of 6, with 4 iPhone’s and 2 touches) waiting for the iPad 2 before we add another iPad.

    Hey David F., can we borrow your extra iPad? ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”wink” style=”border:0;” />

  5. “my wife uses the iPad most of the time. I found over time I have used it less.”

    @ David F.,
Well . . . yea, as I always tell my kids – dad knows everything but mom’s the boss.
    Welcome to married life! ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />
