Apple’s revolutionary iPhone blows past RIM Blackberry in global shipments

InvisibleSHIELD. Scratch Proof your iPhone 4!“In the race for worldwide smartphone dominance, Apple has finally passed Research In Motion. During this year’s third quarter, 15.4 million iPhones were shipped globally compared to only 12.4 million Blackberries, the researchers at Strategy Analytics reported yesterday,” John P. Mello Jr. reports for PCWorld.

“With the shipments, Apple grabbed a 15.4 percent share of the market during the period, while RIM finished well behind with a 12.3 percent share,” Mello reports. “Top dog in the kennel, though, remains Nokia with 26.5 percent of the worldwide market.”

MacDailyNews Note: Last November, Apple passed Nokia to become world’s most profitable handset vendor. Suffice to say, TDINO* isn’t making it up on volume.

Mello continues, “A major factor contributing to RIM’s slipping numbers is its ‘limited presence in the high-growth touchscreen segment,’ according to Strategy Analytics… The gloomy news for RIM won’t be abating soon, either, according to The Economic Times. The company isn’t making any inroads into the consumer market… To make matters worse, RIM’s bread-and-butter buyers–corporations–are starting to slide into the Apple fold.”

MacDailyNews Take: It’s only going to get worse for RIM.

  1. I would like to see Android in that chart. Is it because they are behind the rest in numbers? Or does the stats only show the manufacture not the OS. If total Android numbers out preform RIM then they are in even worse shape. WP7 will be bad for RIM too. MS has the business clout to at least get RIM’s market to look at them. Either way RIM is in a world of hurt.

  2. RIM: How to lose your maxi-market share…

Sit with your thumbs up…for 3 years and them blame Steve Jobs for forcing people to buy his iPhone while you do the 2 for 1 deals.

Only 1 choice left. Hire Mighty Mouse “to save the day” and merge RIM & Nokia into the Rokia company and move it to China where Rokia is easily made and pronounced.

  4. Who cares who sells the most phones. Apple are making money hand over fist and no-one else is coming close.

Zuney – good to hear you again. Your wisdom is as always apparent. Please keep it up and cheer on your hero Mr. Ballmer. I think M$ should conduct a huge marketing campaign for the new WM7.

WinMo will not take RIMM market Share because their Exchange sever is so overpriced.

But just wait until Apple gets a business email system in place. Then they will cream MSFT. (You heard it here first)

  8. I still have never seen anyone using a Zune the entire time they’ve existed. I don’t believe it’s a real product. Must be some tax write-off shenaniganery.

  10. ZuneTang is on the right side when it comes to phone security, after all the iPhone is giving up all sorts of user personal information and easily pwned just by visiting a hostile web page.

Not so with the Windows 7 phone because of the fact that nobody in their right mind uses it.

Met a old Windows DOS geek the other day, total Microsoft drone, hates Mac’s, wouldn’t give up his command line to save his life.

He had a jail broken iPhone, what does that say?
