HP’s forthcoming Windows 7 slate leaks (with video)

A video that appears to be of HP’s forthcoming Windows 7 tablet has been leaked, or trial-balooned, via YouTube:

MacDailyNews Take: If this is the real deal and they actually release that piece of crap, HP’s in even more disarray than we suspect. The only thing Apple has to fear from HP’s Windows 7 tablet is death by excessive laughter.

  1. The iPhone (and presumably, iPad) configuration utility allows you to disable the camera for enterprise situations where cameras are not permitted – of course this would only apply to enterprise-furnished equipment, not personal.

  3. LOLOLOLOL Seriously, I hope they actually release that piece of sh@t.

Even after Steve Jobs holds everyone’s hand and shows them what people want, they don’t have a clue. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />

  5. NPD says for PC market share they WILL count the HP Slate if it ran Windows just like they count all Win tablets.

They will NOT count the iPad.
(Counting it will screw up the myth of PC market share numbers. Many of their customers – PC related firms – use NPD data about market share for marketing, to get bank loans etc)

A reporter asked if they would count Slate running Web OS (as HP has bought Palm). Caught in the double standard the NPD rep in the video basically hummed and hawed giving no answer…

  7. Listen closely in the coming months to how Windozers and Fandroids promote these tablet. Don’t forget how when the iPad was announced, that slates were a dumb idea and who needed one and what did they do that a laptop couldn’t do and blah blah bliddily blah.
Now, you’ll hear them talking about how ‘awesome’ and ‘incredible’ their new tablets are and how excited they are about as-yet unreleased and un-tested models. It’s hilarious if you call them on it. 8 months ago they couldn’t understand why they’d ever want a tablet, now they’re excited about one that no one has used.

Of course in the of the iPad, we all HAD used it, in a way. Anyone who had an iPhone or a touch already k ew exactly how it worked. That was a big plus.

The HP is…. Kind-of a Windows experience, but with a Touch layer slapped on to desktop conventions. You must manually invoke the keyboard. You must use pulldown menus that can run many layers deep in some apps. Sure, you can use ‘all your desktop apps’ but really, how well do you expect them to work in this All Things To Everyone, chimeric beast?

    Personally, I’m thrilled.

This thing doesn’t have a chance. NO CHANCE.

  9. Is that all?… I am not impressed. Retrofitting a desktop operating system meant for keyboard/mouse to a mobile touch device is a slap in the face of consumers who should know better than to fall for its lack of innovation.
