iPhone 4 pre-orders outstrip supply 4-1 in Taiwan

iPhone 4 Accessories “Taiwanese customers placed 200,000 iPhone 4 pre-orders, yet carriers fear that only about one-fourth of those orders will be filled by the end of the year,” Dave Caolo reports for TUAW.

“iPhonetouch.Blorge reports that Apple’s three Taiwanese carrier partners, Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan Mobile and Far EasTone, had access to a mere 1,800 iPhone 4s when they finally became available on September 15th,” Caolo reports. “Additionally, the carriers expect to receive no more than 50,000 units before the year’s end.”

Caolo reports, “Meanwhile, the chairman of manufacturer Foxconn told the press that his company is pumping out 1.5 iPhones per second — that’s about 137,000 units per day — to keep up with the enormous global demand.”

  1. It is also improbable that apple has a single assembler. There must be another or other companies that apple has contracted with. NORAD big as foxconn but at least another third of production. Imagine if a disaster like an earthquake hits shenzen.

  2. We all know that the press is happy terrifying the crowds – call me antenna-gate. It’s also a good thing that sometimes the people just ignore threats and act logically. I am curious what are they going to think of next to fight Apple: iphones emitting toxic fumes? ipads inducing suicidal tendencies? Anything is possible.

  3. so only the drug-dealers and politicians in taiwan will have iphone4s.

In Mexico, we still having 3 weeks delay shipping for the non block iPhones 🙁

  5. Could someone please point out the relatively lackluster aspects of the iPhone?? I think me and the other iPhone owners of the world are just being fooled into believing this is a great cell. Maybe in-person comparison of features with competitors isn’t enough to determine which choice to make…………LOL….. how many must they sell before the others quit trying irrelevant and desparate attempts to change people’s minds?
