Apple: Steve Jobs not detained in Japan over ninja throwing stars, hopes to visit Japan again soon

The New York Post’s wet blanket Jeremy Olshan actually bothered to seek out and publish the official word from Apple regarding this: Report: Apple CEO Steve Jobs detained in Japan airport over ninja throwing stars.

“Steve did visit Japan this summer for a vacation in Kyoto, but the incidents described at the airport are pure fiction. Steve had a great time and hopes to visit Japan again soon.”

MacDailyNews Take: We don’t care what Apple says. Steve’s a ninja and that’s all there is to it.

  1. Shysters resorting to the unimaginable. I guess the play was to infuriate the japanese and bring out their national pride to boycott apple products. Well they thought Jobs would just let the story slide. Now if only Jobs and apple go the extra mile and screw these shysters by pre announcing better than elected Q forecasts.

  2. Is it too much to ask Bloomberg to do some basic fact-checking before running a completly fabricated story penned originally by a third-rate Japanese tabloid?

Is this the new standard for what passes as journalism? Of course Bloomberg hates Steve Jobs’ guts. You need only go back to the hit pieces on Steve Jobs’ cancer by Bloomberg’s Connie Guigliamo to recall their vendetta.

Since then, this piece of trash has hit the blogosphere and twittersphere, which means that in turn other tech and business sources will run it without bothering to check for the facts.

But if it runs in Bloomberg, which apparently is the bitch if large hedge funds trying to short Apple, it must be true.

But it’s not. Of course, the damage has already been done. And that was the whole point of Bloomberg. I can only hope that Steve and his legal team are preparing a libel suit. I would not blame him if he did.

  3. I don’t know, you guys. Calling Ballmer a Sumo or a Geisha is an insult to all Sumo and Geishas. Hell, even Ronin have some honor. Nah. I’d say he’s just a lowly Baka.

Anybody remember the movie “Gung Ho” with Michael Keaton? There was a scene where Japanese manager was being berated by his superior and was forced to wear “ribbons of shame” for his incompetence. That’s Ballmer.

  4. Ballmer is no where close to a ronin… and of that I am certain. His being a ronin would require integrity, intelligence, skill, and passion at the very least. Four qualities he does not have.

  5. Steve follows in the steps of other billionaires (Tony Stark, Bruce Wayne) and obviously does have some sort of super hero type alter ego which, judging by his black turtle necks, does involve stealth and a ninja profile is not out of the question. The fact that he is head of an advanced technology company does suggest that, in some ways, he does utilize some of the tech that Apple works with.

I suspect that Jon Ive has already created some sort of futuristic transport that Steve uses in his secretive activities. Think: Mac mobile.

  6. You know, you can’t google Steve Jobs, because you can’t find Steve Jobs, Steve Jobs finds you…

If Steve Jobs is in the area, make sure you always keep your eye on him, because if you lose track of him, it is already too late…

  7. That’s it! I am not visiting a Microsoft store again in my lifetime! Wait a minute – I have never set foot in a Microsoft store. I have never even seen a Microsoft store, although I imagine it might look somewhat like an Apple Store, but “wrong” somehow. For instance, the exits would be marked “Start – Leave.”

  8. Ballmer is simply a moron. Easily the stupidest tech CEO on the planet. That a brutish “used car salesman” got into his position is an unfortunate miracle. It’s hard to equate “tech” with this clown when he seems exactly to be the type to have the kind of difficulty grappling with simple home technology my aging mother does. And yet he RUNS the biggest software/tech company in the world. His 15 minutes of f**kup fame is about over.

  9. @MidWest Mac, you could’ve bought one from virginmobileusa for a fraction of the price, and no monthly contract.

Regarding the main article: This is EXACTLY the state of HELL that the cell phone industry was in before the iPhone came around, because the carriers wielded too much power. THANK GOD FOR STEVE JOBS AND APPLE who finally put the control back into the innovators’ hands again (and to some extent, the consumers’ hands again) with the iPhone.
