Apple releases Safari 4.0.5 for Mac and Windows

Apple today released Safari 4.0.5 which is recommended for all Safari users and includes improvements to performance, stability, and security including:

• Performance improvements for Top Sites
• Stability improvements for 3rd-party plug-ins
• Stability improvements for websites with online forms and Scalable Vector Graphics
• Fixes an issue that prevented Safari from changing settings on some Linksys routers

Safari 4.0.5 is available via Software Update and also as a standalone installer.

  1. I love it and its SNAPPY on my MBP.

    Best browser for Windows also, as long as your not locked in and forced to access sites requiring Active-x, Sharepoint or full functionality with .asp, .net MS internet monopolizing technologies.

    Sure, there are third party plugins. A number of them are even accessible through Apple’s website. They go into the “Internet Plug-Ins” file in the Library located in your Home Folder. I have several, such as ClickToFlash and one for WebEx. They’re not as big a deal on Safari as they are on Firefox, but they’re there.

  3. Hmm, hope this fixes the problem where some plugin called ‘Sparkle’ keeps crashing Safari. Anyone know what ‘Sparkle’ is? If I don’t need it I’ll just get rid.
