“Corroborating a number of earlier rumors, the Fox TV series 24 is reportedly set to feature an Apple tablet in one of the upcoming episodes, according to several tweets published by the show’s director of photography, Rodney Charters,” MacNN reports.
“The device, referred to by Charters as the iSlate, will allegedly be utilized by the main character, Jack Bauer,” MacNN reports. “‘Got a bit too excited probably more likely Episode 22 but Apple provided fingers crossed,’ Charters said.”

Jack Bauer always had the touch. It’s about time he used it.
Yet another last-second breathless rumor. I can’t wait until the announcement, so all this BS can stop, and reality can begin.
Here’s my prediction: you’ll be thrilled and disappointed. You’ll want features that weren’t included, more battery life, more everything. But it’s a start.
Someday, you’ll tell your grandkids where you were on 1/27/10. And you’ll tell them that you actually read books, magazines and newspapers made of paper. And that your arm got sore carrying textbooks to school. And they’ll look at you like you’re from Mars.
By then, you will have forgotten about the missing Webcam or the disappointing battery life, or that $600 used to be a fortune. Those were the days. But I must admit, looking to the future: it’s nice to see the forests grow back. Little did your grandkids know that Steve Jobs would not just create amazing devices in their day. He also saved the world.
iSlate is a horrible name
The Kraken will eat well tonight.
I like the smell of old books.
Was the flat panel device that Jack Bauer was looking at in last night’s episode when he was following Renee the iSlate?
Jack will use it to wack a baddie on the head first and then surf the secret intranet in a concrete bunker to prove just how tough the aluminum casing is and how connected it can be.
Looks like I was a couple posts early with the stupid Bauer jokes.
If Jack Bauer saw a terrorist reaching for a bomb to blow himself up, Jack would shoot the bomb first. Nobody steals a kill from Jack Bauer.
Jack will use it like Odd Job’s hat!
thwup thwup thwup thwup zzziiiiiink THUD
That could be Mr. Rumor’s noggin hitting the turf!
Reading mdn while driving! I’m as badass as Jack!
We already saw it in the first or second episode!

These days, paper is made from trees grown specifically for that purpose, and they are replanted. Steve isn’t saving the world, he’s just giving us insanely great products.
Predictions for tomorrow — it won’t be called iSlate (stupid name). there won’t be a different OS for each apple device (that would be very Microsoft of Apple to do). it will be the same OS for Mac’s iPhones and other multi-touch devices. it’s the only thing that makes sense. Be prepared to be WOW’d tomorrow!
Big deal. The terrorists in these episodes will be using Windows-based tablets so that little girl Bauer will finally meet his match. Even you MAC cultists can understand that a silly proprietary toy tablet with burp and fart apps doesn’t have a chance against the raw power of Visual Basic and a stylus.
Then they could rename the show ‘7’, as in Windows 7. Get it MAC sheep?
Your potential. Our passion.™
They once made a Jack Bauer toilet paper, but it wouldn’t take sh*t from anybody.
If they put the tablet on AT&T;, Jack in screwed. Make it “24:15” for additional loading times
I’d prefer to see it in CSI Miami or NCIS… or Heroes than in 24…
Jack would be better off with the HP.
I agree. iSlate IS a horrible name. It conjures up all the wrong associations. I really hope that name is a well-advertised decoy.
This past weeks episode of 24 showed “the tablet”. Scene where Jack gets intel for backstory for his cover. Watch closely. Tablet looks very military tech-ish. Doesn’t look nearly polished enough to be an Apple product.
Oh ZT, that was good…
“The terrorists in these episodes will be using Windows-based tablets ….’
And you said it with such sincerity! I love your pride.
Kiefer Sutherland is too weak chinned to play ( and I mean – play) Jack Bauer in this series. Bronson he’s not.
Kiefer will probably carry his tablet in a Gucci purse.
@Spark: Windows will be the new cigarette, as only the bad guys will use it.
Bauer will use it as a weapon by flinging it in a frisbee-like motion to decapitate terrorists. It will then return to him like a boomerang, at which point a live feed of Chloe will appear on the tablet whining about how much of a joke her new boss is. Then CTU files will open in 3-D, as well as an eBook of “Going Rogue”.
Nokia and MS have worked together and have their own (almost similar, but better, of course) device set up and going. It will be launched… hum, later.
It will be called the isLate
