“The service is expected to be offered over Apple’s iTunes digital entertainment store, which sells movies and TV shows, but does not offer them for a recurring monthly fee,” Li and Menn report. “The debut of the service is among other entertainment and news services that the maker of the iPod and iPhone could offer on the ‘tablet’ computer it is widely expected to launch imminently.”
“‘The driver behind it [the tablet] will be content,’ said Kathryn Huberty, a Morgan Stanley analyst,” Li and Menn report. “Apple is preparing an announcement next month that many anticipate will be the official unveiling of its tablet, but the company has so far declined to confirm the existence of the device. Wall Street analysts expect mass production of an Apple tablet to begin as early as February.”

There’s the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. But I don’t know if Apple is planning to have a presence there this year, or not.
I predict that 2010 is the dawn of “media blitz” by Apple!
1. iTablet portable multimedia communication device with iChat.
2. 2010 Apple TV 3.0 upgrade, bigger, faster & subscriptions
3. iTunes Super Store with subscriptions & multi-print-media i-mags / i-newspapers.
4. Uber wide flat screen all-in-one AppleTron TV =iMac+TV+AppleTV
January 5th 2010, one day before the keynote with Steve Ballmer at CES would be the perfect timing for a special event. Everbody will talking about Apples new device and nobody will listen to Microsofts CEO, except of questions about the potential of success for the new “iPad”.

and everytime i read about what wall street analysts expect it ruins all the feverish anticipation i had when i started reading the article let alone the name of katy huberty, the most clueless apple analsyst out there.

tablet sounds too big, it’ll be more of a pad, i reckon it’ll be 2x the size of a ipod touch, probably just as thick, easier to read while taking a dump etc, compatible with iphone apps.
