“BlackBerry users this afternoon have reported another outage affecting the smartphone platform’s BlackBerry Information Service,” Electronista reports.
“The failures appear broader than the primarily mail-related delays from just last week and now also affect web browsing, BlackBerry Messenger and third-party apps that use Internet access,” Electronista reports.
“The issue represents the third such failure within weeks,” Electronista reports. “RIM’s system has previously drawn criticism for its heavily centralized nature that passes many messages and some other data through its own servers. The technique is key to the BlackBerry’s push e-mail delivery but has resulted in numerous outages…”

hahaha, 2nd article this week! yes!
my friend Mr. Sims alerted me to this because he has yet to get a real phone (iPhone)
Wow. I don’t know how this os acceptable!
Heh… How Freudian of me.
Why would an iPhone be affected. Are Mac users really that insecure. No kidding, a Blackberry outage doesn’t affect an iPhone???
i was just on the phone with Mr. Sims, i made it a point to tell him i received a picture message while i was on the phone :-p
@whatevs
the first two questions in your paragraph ended in periods. The last statment in the paragraph ended with three question marks!
What’re you smoking?
I know, I can’t spell. You can always tell when I’m making comments from my Touch.

Dissatisfaction with a service is a prime motivator to switch. When you add a compelling product on a different provider, the motivation becomes irresistible.
“iPhone users unaffected”
Hee hee. Merry Christmas RIMMERS.
@ Whatevs;
The very definition of “insecure” would be someone who’s not using an iPhone trolling an iPhone related story.
Bet you scored unusually low in reading comprehension, eh?
Blackberry users should carry one of

around as well. At least they’d be able to chat with someone. Bob’s supposed to be a good listener.

I have yet to get an iPhone and I just so happened to mention this to Andrew aka pwntbywombat and this is what I get… LOL! I need to switch to AT&T;and leave The Red Devil and purchase an iPhone!
LIKE^
reports are now saying that the outage can last for 3 hrs up to a day!
MDN’s take should be:
iPhone users unaffected by RIM outage in North America; iPhone users severely affected by spotty AT&T;coverage.
That would be the right take, MDN, don’t you think?
@rewrite
I’ll take “spotty” over “outage” any day of the week. Any rational person would. Are you?
except that spotty coverage is 100% of the time. RIM’s outages are typically rare and short lived. Maybe a new trend is starting with the second one on a week, but this is the exception not the rule. Just sayin.
My sister in-law had a flat tire this morning- iPhone users unaffected… except me.
@ rewrite, reRandian, etc.
I live in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, and have absolutely no problems with my AT&T coverage whatsoever. It’s only a comparative minority of areas where AT&T’s coverage isn’t up to snuff, so I’m assuming you live in one of those areas. The rest of us have no problems with our AT&T reliability, so please don’t try to present your localized problems as though they were universal.
“Ditto” what Gabriel said! L.A. Area.
Ditto again…Norfolk/Virginia Beach metro area
