Apple sues to stop power adapter knock offs

72 Hour Apple Black Friday Sale“Apple on Monday filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Media Solutions Holdings, a company based in Anaheim, Calif. that allegedly sells knock-off Apple products through several Web sites,” Thomas Claburn reports for InformationWeek.

“Apple’s complaint charges that Media Solutions Holdings… sells ‘various consumer electronic accessories at retail, including knock-off power adapters for use with genuine Apple portable computers,'” Claburn reports.

“Apple claims that some of the power adapters sold through these Web sites violate its “Power adapter” patent, issued in August, 2003,” Claburn reports.

  1. Apple should license the MagSafe adaptor. It’s incredibly limiting that I can only charge my laptop where Apple tells me I can.
    I want to be able to charge it in the car, with a solar-panel, on an airplane – but Apple says no. Bastards.

    They currently provide a semi-solution for planes – it allows you to power but not charge your laptop on a plane.

    As well as that, there are lots of products with magnets in them that are fine on planes. So the magnets are not an issue.

    I just want to be able to charge my laptop wherever I want!

    Why is that so bad?!
