MacDailyNews Take: Schnappy!
[Thanks to MacDailyNews Reader “iQuack” for the heads up.]
I WANT A MAC!!!
Not sure if it was Safari 4.0.4 or the 10.6.2 update, but Top Sites finally works properly without screen artifacts.
I like MDN article and “Takes”
only place on the web I can find this spin.
Finally, the clear recent searches item has been restored in the search box. This, I believe, had been missing since Safari 4.0
Snappy!
Oh, and it scrolls like butter.
@ChrissyOne: It was 10.6.2!
@ Matt
Thanks! I just did both the updates a few minutes ago, so either way, it’s working now.
Nice to have Clear Recent back!
The rumor is that Safari 4.0.4 code name is Snapville
I WONDERED where clear search had gone. Porn watchers reJoice!!
But does it fix this you tube/flash slowness?
Did they fix cookie handling yet?
Is it still all or nothing or have they finally included white listing?
What is this, update Wednesday? First 10.6.2, then MS Office, Parallels, Omnigraffle and now Safari updates all with 24 hours….
Methinks the ‘net has made it too easy to spew out updates.
“Snappy!
Oh, and it scrolls like butter.”
If you used Smart Scroll, it would scroll like silicone. http://www.marcmoini.com/sx_en.html
“Methinks the ‘net has made it too easy to spew out updates.”
Its never “too easy”. I’m thankful for the rapidity of them.
About time – 10.6.2 and this Safari update seems to have fixed the all-too-frequent slowdowns
@ChrissyOne & Matt,
it’s probably Safari 4.0.4, haven’t downloaded, but updated to 10.6.2, still having screen artifacts
@ ron– $19 for an app that changes my scrolling? Seriously?
Scott, try it for free. I wouldn’t be without it.
Come on, Apple… That’s the second time this month that I had to restart my iMac.
” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” /> You’re cramping my style. What’s next, a security update before Thanksgiving?
Even MDN opens faster…
No tabs on top option yet ?
Anyone know what build of WebKit is in this update?
this is even faster than the last update….i love it
It feels good to have holes plugged.
And completely unrelated, the iPhone needs a MUCH stronger vibrate alert.
@ChrissyOne: Best wishes to a wonderful person!
@ Ampar
It also needs rabbit ears.
Software Update also gave me a huge security update along with Safari 4.0.4. Using Leopard here.
I hope this eliminates the extremely annoying beachball sessions you often get with Safari 4. Especially when opening a new tab.
Yup, here’s hoping it stops the freezing after returning from half an hour or so in another app. I was having to force quit Safari every other day, it was annoying.
Safari experience has eroded, not sure if it’s Safari or my crappy comcast connection. Just updated, I’ll be watching to see if the situation improves, but Safari on Mac@ home vs Firefox on XP @ work, Firefox is smoking Safari right now.
How do you clear the typed browsing history in the address bar? I used the reset safari option with all checked, didn’t work.
@chaz
I would not compare your home internet connection to your work connection, and blame Safari
@Jaxson
Click on HISTORY at the top of the page, scroll to the bottom, click on Clear History.
If you don’t want History to show, click on Safari, click on Private Browsing…
@Cubert
Didn’t notice when I downloaded the update but I went to webkit.org and got the latest version, r50840.
Since Apple has dropped Safari support for Panther isn’t it time they dropped Safari support for XP. XP is ancient compared to Panther.
