New York Times mentions ‘impending Apple slate’

Apple StoreThe New York Times’ executive editor, Bill Keller, spoke at a meeting of The Times digital staff last week, Zachary M. Seward reports for Neiman Journalism Lab.

“Video of the meeting, which Denise Warren, general manager of NYTimes.com declared ‘off the record,’ was posted on an internal Times server and provided to us,” Seward reports.

So much for “off the record,” as Seward has posted a full transcript of Keller’s remarks which include this little tidbit:

We need to figure out the right journalistic product to deliver to mobile platforms and devices. I’m hoping we can get the newsroom more actively involved in the challenge of delivering our best journalism in the form of Times Reader, iPhone apps, WAP, or the impending Apple slate, or whatever comes after that.
