AT&T’s MMS carrier settings update is now available via iTunes for Apple iPhone 3G and 3GS models.

To check if a carrier settings update is available for your iPhone:
1. Make sure you have a working Internet connection on your computer and you have iTunes 7.7 or later.
2. Connect iPhone to the computer and open iTunes.
3. Click “Update Settings.”
4. Restart your iPhone:
– Hold the power button until “slide to power off” appears.
– Slide to power off your device.
– When it is off, press the power button to turn it back on.
MacDailyNews Note: On your iPhone, in Settings > MMS Messaging, make sure the slider in “ON. Carrier settings version should be AT&T 5.5.
In your iPhone’s “Messages” app, you’ll now see a camera icon next to the text input field that will allow you to take or use an existing photo or video to send via MMS:

Now let’s all go decimate AT&T’s network!
[Thanks to MacDailyNews Reader “Jim W.” for the heads up.]
okay, thanks Vics
So far, so good…….all messages sent successfully in Virginia Beach.
Hell its about time.
reboot – now have camera. ‘Sent’ 2 messages. Both failed. Activity bar goes almost all the way across and the stops.
No problem here – installed on my & wife’s phones and, although it takes 3+ minutes to send a pict, it does work.
Hmmmm – I thought I read somewhere that you could send audio attachments too. Anybody know if/how?
@ aking,
Hmmmm, same here. but suddenly it “zoooped” so maybe the message is given low priority or such or the other person needs to have mms activated?? Just a thought.
en
@Birdman…. you have to do it from Apple’s “Voice Memo’s” app. I was kind of hoping that it would be integrated in the text app like they did for photo/video.
Wow, mms? Really? Can I have some duran duran with it too?
Who uses that anymore? No one I know. It’s all email and im
Just tested Sending / Receiving / Playing a Voice Memo using MMS and it works fine.
Go to the Apple Voice Memo App, Record a Voice Memo, in the lower Left corner of the screen is a Share button. Press it, you have a choice of eMailing the Voice Memo or Sending it MMS. Enter the name/ph number you want it to go to and hit Send…
“Who uses that anymore? No one I know. It’s all email and im”
Some of my friends have non-“smart” phones and send me MMS messages. The inability to see them on the World’s Most Advanced Smartphone was ridiculous. “Sorry, dude, my iPhone can’t see the messages you’re sending from your 2003 Motorola.” So I’m quite pleased that this silly little problem has been solved.
P.S. Sending a Voice Memo is ALL done from within the Voice Memo app.
Yes, the Receiving Party MUST also have MMS installed and working for you to send anything to them…
You CAN Send YOURSELF Text, Photos, Videos, Voice Memos – just to see if it’s working….
You can also send locations, too…
I imagine the network’s gonna be loaded today – what’s the 1st thing you do after you update? Why, you send some MMS messages, of course! I did. So we’re gonna have a zillion iPhone users sending photo, video, and voice messages all day today.
It’ll all calm down by Monday

@ericdano,
Who’s using it? Everyone that isn’t 100 years old.
I’m sending a 4.7 GB movie I creates on iMovie right now to Ballmer on his Winmoron HTCPOS device. That should keep him busy for awhile.
“Who uses that anymore? No one I know. It’s all email and im”
Yeah, Email was 1st demonstrated in 1965 – MMS in 2002. I’m glad you’re a man of the times..
ANYWAY, MMS working fine now. I sent 5 messages of which 3 failed between 1:35 and 2:30 – – – – after that, it’s been 100%
100% GOOD I meant!
does MMS message count against your IM (text) message allotment with AT&T;or does it fall under your “unlimited” data?
working fine in Pittsburgh Pa
Spudly it goes against your txt plan.
MMS working like a champ here in South Carolina. I think I may need to up my messaging allotment so that I won’t get hit with those darn over the limit fees.
Downloaded, synced, restarted and sent and received to another carrier…no problems
Now let’s all go decimate AT&T;’s network! Ideed!
