“Apple this week is believed throwing the finishing touches on Mac OS X 10.5.6, the last planned maintenance and security update for Leopard during the 2008 calendar year,” Katie Marsal reports for AppleInsider.
“Developers on Wednesday were reportedly equipped with build 9G55 of the software, which included no noticeable changes from the build (9G52) that was distributed five days earlier,” Marsal reports.
“Separately, people familiar with the matter say Mac OS X 10.5.6 Server was also synched up with the client software and now carries the same build number, typically a telltale sign that both distributions are being primed for a public release,” Marsal reports.

This should put any misgivings about MobileMe to bed.
Hmmmm. I am looking forward to it.
If it’s snappier!
I think my machines snappier already just thinking about it …
Actually, it will not be out for another week, most likely two. Sorry. This article is wrong.
i’m excited!
103 fixes!!! WOOHOO!
Needs it now. Mail has just spawned another half dozen zombie AddressBook Sync processes. At least it has stopped randomly switching the account authorization from POP to APOP.
My iBook G4 1.2GHz just got Snappier.
If I post an article a week stating the update to anything is around the corner-eventually I will be right.
My iMac is snappier just knowing it is going to be released real soon
Is it really snappier?
My Safari Browser just got Snappier just by going to this Site !
Enough with the snappy already! My Mac is snappy-less, and needs a good snap.
I don’t get it with all the “snappy” jokes. I saw some in other articles. What is that all about?
I say 12 December, 2008 for the release date. any takers?
so I said to the waiter, bring me a crocodile sandwich and make it snappy!
Ohh Snap
steve michel in the 90’s
Mine will be snappier too!!!
Mine is less snappy, what gives with this update!
Hopefully this makes the itunes store usable! scrolling=forced restart.
The telltale sign as to whether this update is solid or not is whether Apple releases it as their commercial Leopard install (ie. it ends up on the disc you buy).
This will hopefully fix i have been told by apple support an issue with the 24 inch display where connecting drives to the USB ports resulted in my 100GB Aperture library becoming totally corrupted, this has cost me a week of grief, and perhaps the loose of raw images (certain that i have lost a lot of the adjustments i made).
Apple support however were very nice, and efficent.
My eMac running Tiger just got less-snappier, knowing it won’t get the new update.
@ G4Dualie Thats what I keep hoping for as well. When I leave my MobileMe Preferences to Auto sync it crashes out every 5 min or so. So I just keep sending the Crash report some 50 times a day to Apple in hopes they get the message…
