  1. That’s nice. Following the link takes me to an Apple page with the link to DL 10.5.5. Click on it & I get to the 10.5.4 DL page!!

Apple seem to be getting many things somewhat askew these days.

    Too much iPhone!

  2. Did my usually system update routine… Start up from my external Emergency/Maintenance Startup Drive. Run Disk Utility using the Repair Disk routine. Restart from normal startup drive. Run Disk Utility using the Repair Disk Permissions routine. Run Software Update to install the system update. After restart, run Disk Utility using the Repair Disk Permissions routine, one more time.

As usual, no problems so far…

  3. And I did my usual routine (in silk stockings of course)… turn around three times chanting “it just works, it just works, it just works” followed by clicking the mouse once while exhaling… I made sure I had buried the toad earlier in the evening in the back yard… lucky for us it’s a full moon!

As usual no problems so far…

  4. > Time Machine is now taking forever “Preparing Backup…” – what gives?

It did take a while the first time after the update. Must be making some changes to the archive. Subsequent backup only took a few seconds.

  5. Later I will try with the other machines, but at least this iMac 2.4GHz didn’t like the update.

Maybe it‘s that I am using fake Chinese DSL, but I get this error message: “The Installer could not validate the contents of the ‘MacOSXUpd10.5.5Patch’ package”.

  6. @YoYo,

I had a similar problem with my girlfriends PowerBook the other month… turns out the date in OS X had been reset to 1980 or something, so all the certificates etc. were out of sync.

Reset the date to the correct year, and all was good.
