“Renaissance at Colony Park is on track to become the site of the first Apple computer store in Mississippi,” Elizabeth Crisp reports for The Clarion-Ledger.
MacDailyNews Note: Ridgeland at Colony Park is located at the northwest corner of I-55 and Old Agency Road in Ridgeland, Mississippi.
“Ridgeland aldermen approved site plans after discussion this week over the store front’s aesthetics,” Crisp reports.
“Though the computer company already has retail stores in nearby Baton Rouge, Birmingham and Memphis, it had not yet ventured into the Magnolia State,” Crisp reports. “Apple has more than 200 stores world-wide.”

I’ve lived in Alabama my whole life and would NEVER dream of voting for huckabee.
Free crawdads for everyone on opening day!
Nice to see the anti-Southern a**holes actually do infest every nook and cranny of the internet.
While it might not be everyone’s cup of tea, Mississippi is a beautiful state with a lot of things to do, especially for lovers of the outdoors.
Congrats to the folks around Jackson. Great to see Apple expanding there. Having an Apple store nearby is the bee’s knees, the cat’s meow, and all that. Enjoy!

wOw some of you ppl really suck.
yes, start here… on part2:
Coming soon, the iNoose.
“People forget that New Orleans was not “destroyed” by Katrina. Failures in the design and maintenance of the levees caused the majority of the destruction.”
If that were remotely true, the destruction would have happened without Katrina, on one sunny afternoon.
The fact is, that hurricane would eventually wipe out New Orleans has been predicted for along time. It’s only a pity Katrina didn’t do a better job and completely level the city, so the foolishness of rebuilding would be more obvious.
I thought Ridgeland was that scary ass Homeland Security Theme Park being planned in Pennsylvania.
Well, I had to take my MacBook in for in warranty repairs at the new Baton Rouge store last week. It was my 1st time to visit any Apple Store and I missed the grand opening due to foot surgery and no way to get there and no volunteers to take me! 🙁 Anyway, I can tell that this store is already outgrown itself in the sheer numbers of people I seen inside. Yeah, most of them were looking but I’m almost sure that the disgruntled father complaining to the sales rep about his troublesome Dell will walk out of there with a Mini or an iMac. The rep was very friendly, knowledgeable and willing to help with data transfers and about running Winbloz in Boot Camp, Fusion or Parallels. That’s what i overheard of the conversation and I did see his wife and daughter smile with joy of becoming new Mac/Switchers and the father seemed relieved. 😀 There’s hope everywhere there’s a new Apple Store especially where there are no more resellers and I mean the Mom and Pop types.
“disgruntled”
That’s not a word you want to say to much in the south unless you want to end up re-gruntled and squealing like a pig.
@ Deliverance WTF?! I’ve never seen the movie and don’t care to but why is it incorrect? That movie was made 36 years ago and I doubt it accurately portrays the “south” ever and especially now. I mean damn it is a MOVIE!
Here’s the Merriam-Webster.com definition:
Main Entry: dis·grun·tle
Pronunciation: dis-‘gr&n;-t&l;Function: transitive verb
Inflected Form(s): dis·grun·tled; dis·grun·tling /-‘gr&nt;-li[ng], -‘gr&n;-t&l;-i[ng]/
Etymology: dis- + gruntle to grumble, from Middle English gruntlen, frequentative of grunten to grunt
Date: 1682
: to make ill-humored or discontented — usually used as a participial adjective <they were a very disgruntled crew — Flannery O’Connor>
“That movie was made 36 years ago and I doubt it accurately portrays the “south” ever and especially now.”
“frequentative of grunten to grunt”
As pigs to. You almost got there…
Watch the movie and travel a bit in the south. It still applies today as it did 36 years ago.
“Watch the movie and travel a bit in the south. It still applies today as it did 36 years ago.”
No it does not. I’ve lived in and traveled all over “The South” my whole life — I’ve never come across any such thing, nor have I ever heard of anyone else experiencing it either.
I don’t know why people make up such garbage and perpetuate it about this part of the U.S. It must be a sport among the snobbier, ruder part of the American population. I hope it makes you all feel better to “win.”
” It must be a sport among the snobbier, ruder part of the American population. I hope it makes you all feel better to “win.””
It has nothing to do with winning, just warning. My guess is that you’ve stayed in major cities, or because you are a southern boy yourself, not been subjected to the kind of treatment the region gives outsiders.
Just a few comments: It’s nice to know that my brother-in-law’s 3rd tour in Iraq is NOT in vain, because he fighting to preserve all of our freedoms even for those who suffer from one of the greatest diseases known to man “ignorance”. Before you, get upset, I mean ignorance in the true meaning of the word, “lack of knowledge, knowing not what you speak of”, for those who have actually lived here, more power to you and your options, at least you are speaking from experience.
Now on to Apple news, it’s much welcomed news, the store will be in located the suburbs of Jackson, MS (central MS, the largest city in the state not really saying much there). There are a few us around here who actually know quite a bit about Apple as a company and the products they sale. I ran the Apple Shop here in town a few years ago and we out performed many of the other stores around the country. I started a local Mac Users Group (against the odds) and years later we are still meeting just around the corner for the purposed new store location (a very beautiful area).
Does Mississippi have problems? God’s knows we do, but I have traveled to more than half the states in this country and Mississippi is doing just fine. If you are really interested in facts and seeing Mississippi shown in a positive light, please visit (http://www.mississippibelieveit.com/) or even better come to Mississippi and see for yourself, there are a lot of good, talented people and things to see. Thanks and may God bless U all :0)

Just don’t be black and look at any of the white women in the wrong way or you’ll probably not be going home.
No lynchings anymore, you just disappear, it’s much harder these days for the law to turn a blind eye to doing that kind of thing in PUBLIC.
