A person cliaming to be an Apple Retail Store employee has posted in MacRumors forum that Apple is expected to officially announce 16GB iPhones within the next few days.
The poster says that their Apple Store has already received their units and display materials and posted photos to prove it:

Oh, I Hope not. Then my 8GB will be lame.
i have one right now.
It’s already been pointed out on several sites as a huge fake!
Did I see correctly: version 1.1.2 ?
fake or not, i’m gettin’ me one.
Oh No!
Progress!
fyi, When unreleased products come in, the are completely sealed with a date on them when they can be opened. I can almost guarantee this is a fake.
As Strong Bad would say, that’s some pretty Blurry Photographic Evidence.
Mac Daily Gossip
jimmymac,
thanks for the laugh. That was great!
This has already been debunked.
“A person cliaming to be an Apple Retail Store employee has posted in MacRumors forum that Apple is expected to officially announce 16GB iPhones within the next few days.”
Should read “A person who is soon to be an ex-Apple Retail Store employee….”
@R2
Can you post a link to the debunking?
thanks
I soldered in extra memory the day
I hacked it to run on AT&T;Canada.
And I added 64 Mb more, plus a port for 3G mobility.
iPhone is the greatest device to hack this century.
Nice try, but the cloning job on the box image is just a bit off.
It’s not fake. The box looks bigger than for the 8GB iPhone!
debunking… calculator icon is wrong, there are clone stamp indications (to some), and the above… they don’t open the unmarked boxes until the date stamped on ’em.
MW: doing (rhymes with boing?)
@ Shogun
Good catch on the calculator icon, I missed that.
C1 ~ Color me foolish, but I can’t really see how your grid shows the cloning to be wrong… Can you help a brother out with a little schooling?
ihope, your 8 Gb is already lame.

Not to mention, that iTunes WiFi icon wouldn’t be all blown out at the top in the print materials.
It’s twice as large as my 8GB and comes with wheels.
WOW – This is insane – FedEx just dropped off my iPhone order and it they shipped me a 16GB model in place of the 8gb, with a note that since based on the delay of my order they upgraded me to a 16GB model.
THANK YOU – STEVE!!!!
