Apple promises fix for iPhone battery state icon

“The results of our iPhone battery survey seem to indicate that the issue of the battery icon not showing a full charge is widespread: over 60% of those who responded told us that their battery indicator did not show a fully charged battery,” Richard Baguley reports for WirelessInfo.

“So, we contacted Apple PR about this, and they told us that ‘Your battery is fully charged, but the UI (User Interface) is just not correctly reflecting this. We expect to fix this in a software update,'” Baguley reports.

  1. “What better way than to detract theft then camouflaging the desirable iPhone as a Zune.”

Disguised as a Zune, someone might accidentally flush my iPhone down the toilet.

Jim – TIV: I’ve had Safari crash a few times but that’s about it other than learning how to charge the thing. It’s been the best gadget I’ve ever owned so far. And a decent phone. Imagine that!

  2. I plug my iPhone into my iMac (PowerPC) and then I go to bed. My iMac is set to go to sleep after 1.5 hours of inactivity ( I know the computer doesn’t need to go to sleep but why burn any power when the machine is not in use.). When I wake in the morning the iPhone is fully charged and ready to rock.

I would be interested to see if this is an intel thing or a laptop thing.

    Just curious.

MDN Word – Short — With all of the troll baiting and responses these comments have sure gotten short on ANY useful information.”

  3. “they’ll get it fixed for those that have the issue. And it won’t take a $1.15 Billion recall to get it done it either…”

Correct, they’ll change the software to mask the faulty hardware, so you’ll no longer know to complain if you have an iPod which won’t fully charge.

  4. @ABQ Peter I believe Apple state the charge circuit in the laptops should be calibrated once a month. This is done by fully discharging the battery before fully recharging it in one sequence. This helps the metering systems calibrate to full battery status.

@iphone charge it’s most likely a laptop thing, I plug my Iphone into a wall charger and it’s fully charged in about 45 minutes from a 2/3 discharge.
