Apple releases MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 1.3

Apple has released MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 1.3 which fixes a display issue on 2.2/2.4GHz 15-inch MacBook Pro models.

System Requirements
• Mac OS X 10.4.9 or later
• MacBook Pro 15-inch 2.2GHz or 2.4GHz
• MacBook Pro Software Update 1.0

  1. It worked for me.

    One note of advice: Zap your PRAM after running it. Shut down first.

    Hold down Command-Option-P-R IMMEDIATELY and simultaneously after Restarting. Wait until the startup chime repeats 2 or 3 times.

    A lot of System Preference settings stopped working: Expose, mouse scrolling, desktop pictures, etc.

    Seriously, EFI is like a little backdoor to our Intel Mac’s, it doesn’t need a OS to operate, it can contact the internet, download, read hard drives and even play cd’s and dvd’s.

    EFI sits between the OS and hardware, developers can install code there to enforce DRM schemes, “phone home” and all sorts of goodies.

    Any malware installed here would be very difficult to uncover because nobody really isn’t paying any attention to it’s security at the moment.
