  1. I think you may have to decide on the day the iphone is on sale actually in the store.

I must admit, the communication about the calling plans have been very badly publicised – thats AT&Ts; fault though, not Apple’s.

  2. I’m waiting for things to calm down. I’m very interested in others field-testing it before I buy. To spend $500 and two years of my life on a plan is more than I want to bet on, for the moment.

I’m almost positive it’ll be a HUGE slam dunk. Almost.

  3. 6pm on a frickin’ Friday? What great idea–>”we’ll release the iphone on a F WEEKEND–that way everyone will roll out to AT&T & apple stores on Sunday and they’ll be closed! It’ll be terrific!”

  4. Somehow, I dont think the reported 3 million iPhones stockpiled by AT&T and Apple .. are gonna be enough to satisify the public on launch day …

I get the feeling there will be a lot of people buying more than one … then, recouping their costs by selling the extra iPhones they bought … on eBay …

Scalping iPhones ?? … you betcha .. Didnt this happen with the PlayStation3 … (or was it the Nintendo WII) ?

Yeah, I used to go to my fave local Apple Store at least every week to hang with the people there (we loved to talk all things Apple – of course!) and have, over time, become friends (from the manager to the genii to the floor specialists). Plus I have spent around $20k at this local Apple Store over the years.

So, with those two things I have some notoriety and respect there. Long story short: My fave friend there —

  6. REPOSTING – my post got cut-off…

  8. The timing is a very smart move. Friday is typically a slow news day (as is Summer in general — with all the first-string reporters taking a long 4th of July holiday) so Apple will be the lede story everywhere (print & TV). With the lines forming all day, it’s a made-for-TV event, and you can bet the TV networks and local affiliates will all have their live trucks out there doing standups, interviews with iPhone fans, etc. — rolling clips from the Apple iPhone ads over & over & over…..”Watson, come here. I need to show you this movie clip!”

The Saturday and Sunday papers, same thing — huge photos — you know, the biggest event since Moses came down from the mountain with the OS-X commandments — remember that coverage?

  9. Alright MDN, seriously. W T F !!!! This is just retarded. I mean seriously. Some character I have is causing the copy to not get posted? Oi vey.

So, with those two things I have some notoriety and respect there. Long story short: My fave friend there – a genius – on my request will be setting four 8GB iPhone models aside for me (1 for me and 1 for my wife and 1 for the CTO of the company I work at and 1 for his wife).

I took the day off because there is NO-WAY I will be able to concentrate on ANYTHING that day! Besides the iPhone I mean! I know me very well… So yeah, I still want to get to the front-of-the-line just to be on the safe side. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”wink” style=”border:0;” />

  10. At the very least I want to get some video and pics of the event. U Village is the biggest in Seattle and the only free-standing (non-mall) location, so I’m thinking it’s going to be madness. I was there for the Panther launch and that was crazy.

Agreed. Taking his boyfriend would be right nice. Making fun of the developmentally retarded, on the other hand… that’s harsh.

    everyone else –

Have they announced special iPhone plans? ‘cuz right now, AT&T Wireless charges $100/mo for unlimited data w/ WiFi. Ouch!
