MacDailyNews Note: Apple lists Windows XP with Service Pack 2 and Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4 as iTunes 7.1.1 for Windows system requirements with no mention of Windows Vista.
My iTunes version says 7.1.1.5
??????????
Will this fix my Quicken problem cause by 10.4.9?
Still not compatible with Vista, which seams like a cheap shot. I expect Word to stop working with Leopard.
No, but your slowin’ problem will get a fixin’.
“Still not compatible with Vista, which seams like a cheap shot.”
That comment has me in stitches!
“Still not compatible with Vista, which seams like a cheap shot. I expect Word to stop working with Leopard.”
“Cheap shot”, not really tons of windblows, M$ loving developers are struggling to make their apps work with Vista. You “expect Word to stop working in Leopard.” Oh, no! We’re doooomed!
Dumb ass.

Let Vista rot in peace.
When was the last Office update? 2004? Three years ago?
For fun, run a Google search on Vista sucks. There’s an asp.net blog with a LOOOOONNNG thread of people pissed off at Microsoft for releasing crapware and pretending it’s a usable OS.
Wounded by the Aeros of early adoption. And Bill giggles himself to sleep every night.
Just updated and things seem snappier!
Come now, we all know that iTunes 8 is right around the corner. There will need to be a new release to support the iPhone. That version will most likely have Vista support. Adobe did this to Apple, Microsoft does this sort of thing to everyone, and now it’s Apple’s turn to do this to Microsoft. Why roll Vista support into the old tree and increase your risk when you’ve got a brand new one under development?
MW: “weeks” as in we only have a few weeks to wait for iTunes 8 and the goodness that is iPhone.
“And Bill giggles himself to sleep every night.”
Shouldn’t that be ‘Mr. Giggles himself’?
mine says 7.1.1 (5)
I second the “snappier” comment, esp coverflow.
i hope it changes the way it sorts names… pisses me off how it ignores ‘The’ from album title
(unless theres a way to change this and im a dumbass)
“Why roll Vista support into the old tree and increase your risk when you’ve got a brand new one under development?”
Yeah, MS busted out WMP and IE7 to promote Vista. I see no harm in waiting. I feel sorry for the people check mated into buying vista on a new PC, but then again…they bought a PC.
tommy
actually, I believe there is. Try it under ‘info>sorting’
“Preview and purchase high-quality hit movies” … have they snuck in 720p versions?
USG
maybe they mean production value.
Like ‘Waiting For Guffman’
TowerTone
o yea u were right, u can change the sort setting but looks like u can only do it one at a time though, doesnt show up when editing multiple… ooo well. thanks
Snappier indeed!
I wish they’d make shuffle mode customizable… Genre Shuffle? Artist Shuffle?
iTunes works fine on my friend’s Vista laptop
It didn’t do a dam thing for my Quicken…
tommy — you can do it for multiple items. iLounge published a how to in their last “ask iLounge” article. Here

you should subscribe to iLounge’s RSS feed. They rock, and deserve all their success.

I wish they would just fix Party Shuffle. 7.1 broke it completely for me (PPC) and attempts to use it only shows me iTunes Store purchases. Including video downloads. It’s still broken in 7.1.1. Fortunately the regular shuffle function still works or I’d be *really* pissed.
My 30GB iPod won’t charge from USB all of a sudden… Could this be related to this update? It still charges via firewire but wont charge from my powerbook or the ac adapter via USB. very odd…
“with no mention of Windows Vista.”
It’s because the bastards at Microsoft PURPOSELY BROKE iTUNES!!!
The Evil Empire Strikes Back.
Hssst, it is done my master….
mike k.
i never woulda figured that one out… thanks for that link. looks like they do have alotta useful stuff on there

Apple has fixed most of the issues with Vista, but a few still remain. It looks to me that they’re working on it.
CoverFlow for movies and videos … is that new?
The music video previews finally work for me. They never have until now.
Here is the link to that asp.net blog with all the Vista complaints…

Thanks, Fuzzy Bunny.
Geez, I never thought I’d say that while sober.
When was the last Office update? 2004? Three years ago?
Actually, it was February 13, 2007. Just over a month ago.
So Squirter, quit yer bitcchin.
Tower… what version of Quicken you using? I’m completly updated and it’s working fine here, need me to bootleg you a copy?
I hate all of these damn updates. Everytime I update I’m afraid of ending up like one of these poor suckers who loses their library or experiences a host of other problems.
Yeah yeah, I’m too lazy to backup.
Thanks, Jim
I finally got it reloaded.
It is ver. ’06 15.0.1 r2
Came with my iMac.
I also had problems with my Canon MP500 multifunction and had to reload it.
Then Toast 8, finally getting it to burn as I type.
I had to trash all of these.
Also, to reload Quicken, for some reason, the install disk turned my OS back to 10.4.4, so then I had to update back to 10.4.9.
Then I had to reload iTunes, which then required Quicktime to be updated.
These aren’t that big of a deal, just kinda strange. Something I had somewhere didn’t like 10.4.9.
Cujo…
Wow, Fuzzy Bunny, that ASP.NET site is incredible. Mutiny in the ranks of loyal MS fanbois. Microsoft has unleashed its latest Frankenstein monster on the world, and the townfolk are marching on the castle with torches, clubs and pitchforks.
And yesterday, Ballmer tells a crowd of Stanford Graduate School of Business students that Google’s growth plan is “insane.” Holy crap, has he checked in with the real world lately? Missed his meds? Just dropped by from the set of The Twilight Zone? Unbelievable.
http://news.com.com/Ballmer+calls+Googles+growth+plans+insane/2100-1014_3-6167710.html
@Fuzzy Bunny
WOW. I read through all those posts. Amazing reading…
How are the retailers going to cope with this level of dissatisfaction? The problems these guys describe on brand new machines pre-installed with Vista are astonishing. And many of these guys are long-term Windows tech-heads.
I think I will send a link to this site to the BBC
” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />
Qka: I meant major version and not incremental upgrade. MS pretends to care.
So, my point stands.
A good friend of mine just got a PC with Vista preloaded. After reading many of those posts, I know he is in for a really bumpy ride.
I told him to keep his receipt. He’s gonna need it!
Still no FLAC support.. 🙁 bad going guys..
From the Vista sucks link:
“Wow”, it’s unbelievable how much flames I can see rising up to the sky in a pro-Microsoft technology forum. And it confirms that you should wait for at least a few Vista service packs – or simply ignore it! Maybe we should call it ‘MS Hasta La Vista alpha 0.0.0001a pre-development nightly-build 8497912’.
Anyway, I probably made the best decision for years and bought my first Apple computer, a neat MacBook Pro 15″ Core 2 Duo, 2GB. This made me really say “WOW”, “WOW” and again “WOW” !!!!
” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />)
Good luck with your service packs. Looks like MS will have to start from scratch to fix Vista. Perhaps that’s why Ballmer said they are starting work on their next OS ( Longhorn? ).
As for iTunes, I second R2‘s comment. In fact, I worry about ’s content business and DRM turning into Sony.
