Apple has released Tunes Repair Tool for Vista 1.0 which will repair permissions for important files required by iTunes to play your iTunes Store purchases.
Basically, some Vista sufferers found that they couldn’t play their iTunes-purchased songs after “upgrading” to Windows Vista. This tool corrects the permissions issue.
Just to be clear: Tunes Repair Tool for Vista 1.0 is not for Mac users.
As for other issues with Vista and iTunes, “Apple recommends that customers wait to upgrade Windows until after the next release of iTunes which will be available in the next few weeks.”

There is no reason to upgrade at all, i still have to dualboot in order to play movies. VLC droppes frames (with 25% total cpu usage) under vista bussines but it playes the movies just fine under xp. wtf?

Apple releases the first Vista fix. Microsoft stands around with its thumb up its ass. Ya know, this has gotta burn Gates’ biscuits, knowing that Apple has provided the first mini-service pack for Vista. Do ya think Gates called Jobs to thank Apple? Nah, me either.
To be even safer, Apple should recommend that people only upgrade to Vista AFTER its second release, not the BETA release Microsoft is selling now.
Of course it is more like XP Service Pack 3, since Microsoft dropped all of the major portions of Vista’s update (which they don’t bother telling consumers — only tech savvy people know that). Oh, well.
There is always 2012, Microsoft. Maybe you could hire RUSH to get out your message then.

Better yet, save yourself from the many headaches to come and get a real upgrade to a Mac.

I’m not sure it means we’ll see a new iPod, but if so, methinks the full-size iPod will be the one.
I don’t know about a new iPod, but I bet there’s a point release coming for iTunes soon to enable tv functionality.

Apple has a new video iPod planned for release in a few weeks, which is when the new iTunes will be released.
Don’t count on HD movies. Too large of files; download times would be enormous.
Microsoft was willing to screw all of its loyal customers who bought iPods just to spite Apple. Face it, Windows users, Microsoft never cared about you.
I love how Microsoft is always breaking Apple software in Windows. No conflict of interests there, nope.
Most of you are missing the point. Apple is one the spreading FUD here.
Why?
Because Apple undoubtedly got access to Vista beta releases. Apple, like all third party developers on Windows, had AMPLE time — months, if not years — to test and port their code to Vista.
So Apple should have discovered these problems and fixed them in iTunes before now. The fact that it didn’t indicates that either Apple was surprised by these problems – meaning its testing was sloppy – or they just dropped the ball.
At the very least, it is bad form for one company to be telling users what to do with products from other companies. Apple should have simply reiterated that it knows about these problems with iTunes on Vista, and that it is working on fixes, that should be available in a few weeks.
Apple: Give users the facts, and let them decide what to do on their own computers.
Not so sure MS did this deliberately. Not really in their interest especially when you see what they’re charging for Vista upgrades.
But as a long time mac guy, it is a bit sweet. For YEARS we had to contend with the fact that very important apps on the mac platform came from MS. Now MS has to deal with the fact that a very important app on Windows is made by Apple.
Considering what a decaying, festering infection Vista is, it ought to be called Windows Fistula.

Actually, Rush is a fan of Apple and a huge Mac evangelist. He tells people all the time to switch to Mac, and he doesn’t get a dime from it.

I think it’s more likely that the iTunes update is for Apple TV. I doubt it’s for a full screen iPod. Let’s hope I eat my words…

I thought of a great reason for wifi iPods. AppleTV. AppleTV can then pull from iPods and PCs.

Apple has had a loooooong time to get iTunes ready for Vista. If almost every other company has been able to make sure their products are compatible, why couldn’t Apple? Perhaps a coincidence, but Adobe just released Reader 8.0 that is Vista compatible. Why wasn’t Apple ready? And why is this Microsoft’s fault?
Answer, it’s not. But you guys will run with it and bash Microsoft because you don’t know what else to do.
Apple was totally lazy on this one. They had all kinds of time to prepare for this, and instead pretend that Microsoft is the one with 2% market share.
Don’t get me wrong; I’m a devout Mac user, but geez: how can you all sit back and say this was MICROSOFT’S arrogance and ineptitude? Not really, you’d have to wonder how Apple could be so inept as to not have software working under an OS which has been in beta for years, and released in final form since November.
This smacks of Apple intentionally creating an incompatibility issue, or not addressing faults they knew existed in iTunes in the hope of creating some negative press. All that is of course at the expense of their customers, 95% of whom are Windows users.
Where are the Mac fanboys who were blasting Microsoft for their Zune software not working under the Vista Betas now?

Apple lazy to not make iTunes compatible with Vista? Perhaps. But wasn’t Zune’s software incompatible with Vista as well back in November?
The point is, there are so many Windows softwares, not just iTunes, that do not work with Vista but work fine under XP. So why do you have to “upgrade” to Vista? It is the fault of those people who rushes out to buy Vista without thinking about this point and suffers through incompatibility problems.
If you have to have Vista, at least wait until most softwares are made compatible or new versions are released that work with Vista (which means you have to pay again, haha.).
Personally I will avoid Vista and any other Microsoft softwares for as long as possible as they are all infested with the draconian activation and “software protection platform”. Just wait until someone reports that their version of Vista has been labelled “not genuine” and Vista locks them out of their PCs.

This is totally Microsoft’s fault. iTunes worked fine on all beta copies of Vista and you know it.
A last minute change to Vista was made in order to break iTunes. Microsoft has done this kind of thing before and Microsoft will do it again. It’s in their DNA.

Some of you Mac guys are insane. Its Apples fault that iTunes doesn’t work on Vista. Why would MS purposely do that, especially these days when they’re under a lot of heat from the EU (and so is iTunes DRM for that matter)? Yes the Zune is now out, but Zune didnt work w/ Vista at first. Maybe its some bad code somewhere. Vista was finalized and sent to print in November, and Apple had plenty of time to iron out any problems.
If Microsoft Office didn’t work on OSX, would you blame Apple? No, you’d blame MS for not having their act together. So if iTunes didn’t work on Vista, why would you blame Microsoft?
