  1. The iPhone is even more amazing than I thought. About the only thing I got wrong was that it is actually going to be called the “iPhone.” I was sure Apple would leave “phone” out of its name to emphasize that it’s much more than a phone. It should be called “Macpod.”

    So, how much…?

  2. scroll up…I called those prices…

First mistake…this costs as much as a Mac Mini. Great phone, but you gotta wonder if it is great enough.

I guess I’m looking for a Wii instead.

second mistake….nothing ’til June…they should have come out in October and said there will be no announcement in January

third mistake….Cingular…unless they are selling them unlocked at the Apple Store

    watch the stock tank

  3. Keep in mind that Cingular will subsidize those prices for people who sign up for 1 or 2 year contracts. Ever try to buy one of those $50 RAZR phones when you are already on contract? They’ll charge you the full $300 or more. Apple priced the iPhone to match the other smart phones on the market, so expect out the door costs to be about $200-$300.

  4. Expect sometime later this year other cellphone companies to be begging to get on the bandwagon…and you can’t stick a Mac Mini in your pocket and make a phone call.

Also I’d expect Cingular to make it very attractive for folks to acquire one of these, with lots of extras included…

Looks like big news is name change, not departure of Steve — nothing to see here folks, move along…

And no 12inch MBP, at least not yet — there may be some grumbling that the keynote was all consumer stuff, nothing for the techheads…

  5. “most disappointing MacExpo ever?” sheesh! there’s no pleasing some people! iPhone speculation has run rampant for a couple of years – and when it’s finally debuted (way cooler than anyone predicted), the reaction is… “meh.”
