Apple Computer has redesigned their Apple Retail Store pages. The new design features a “Find a Store” section with drop-down menus replacing the long and growing text link list of stores. The sheer number of stores now probably called for this redesign. (You can still see the complete store list on Apple’s new “Store List” page here.
Four large areas highlight certain aspects of Apple Retail Store features:
• Genius Bar: The Genius Bar is the place to go for advice, insight and hands-on technical support. Get tips, learn tricks and more.
• The Studio: Let the Creatives in The Studio — the creative hub of the Apple Store — help you bring your creative projects to life.
• ProCare: members can enjoy a higher level of service and support at the Apple Store, from personal training to yearly tune-ups.
• Workshops: very day the Apple Store hosts a variety of free one-hour workshops to help you get the most from your Mac.
The new index page also features “Store News and Events,” and links to “Business Day Wednesdays,” the “Apple Store Event Widget,” and “Work at Apple” Apple Retail Store job opportunities.

I just notice something that I have never noticed before. It used to be that when you shopped online, it was at Apple’s site. Now you can shop online from your LOCAL store. Try it out and tell me if this is what I think it is. Are we shopping for inventory at their specific store? Or are the products shipped to the store for pickup if wanted?
At least 15 states don’t have a single Apple Store. At least 17 have more than one. Heck, “Greater Boston” has more than one. So does “Greater SF” AND “Greater LA”, “Greater NYC” and, strangely, “Greater Seattle” – if I’m reading the map right. I can easily see how some states are better able to support multiple stores than others even a single store, but what’s this with multiples in so many “greater metropolitan areas”?
And let’s let the past rest. The “North” and the “South” have both changed substantially in my lifetime … all but the accents … and the chimp pictured in the ad next to this text-entry window in my major reason for being annoyed with the “South” today. Between him and his immediate predecessor you have one reasonably intelligent, reasonably moral, reasonably <strike>ethical</strike> politician.
No place is “perfect” – not for everyone. Get over it. Try to make your place better for as many as possible and be kind when pointing out flaws with others or answering their comments about you. And do not – ever – advocate terminating a village idiot found wandering too far from home. His bubbas are nastier than your bubbas.
what you guys are talking about? it’s just apple retail stores nation wide, growing. suddenly why are you talking about northern, southern states old story? I guess all of you are feeling inferior to somebody?
Oops:
Hey, dipshit… wonderful piece of xenophobic nonsense, there. Way to go…! And boy, your American education did you proud. Aren’t you proud, no really?
The US economy is not the strongest. The EU’s – at $12.85 trillion – is way stronger. You know Europe, right? It’s that economic and cultural shithole you know sooo well.
It’s the place that gave you ALL the languages you people speak. It’s that shithole of a place that came up with the overrated concept of d-e-m-o-c-r-a-c-y, the one your government keeps exporting to other countries, while taking it away from its own citizens! Oh yeah, it’s also the shithole place where a Frenchman and a German invented the internal combustion engine, oh, and the Englishman who submitted a patent for a jet engine in 1930, that was built by a German in 1935 – ah, but that never went anywhere. And there was that shithead of a Scotsman that came up with the useless idea of a ‘telephone’… I mean, who uses that these days? And the English shithead who developed a stored-memory computer, and the other English guy who came up with penicillin, but that never went anywhere either.
And then there was the Frenchman who advanced the theory of flight and proved it by flying in a balloon in the 1700s, or the Austrian who developed atomic energy theory…. oh, and the Germans who invented and designed unmanned intercontinental rockets back in 1942-44… and not forgetting the Italian who designed a helicopter back in the early 1600s
Oh, and careful crossing the road, you might get hit by that Toyota, Audi, or BMW or if you’re really lucky, that Mercedes.
I’m just sayin’….
OK tHE dUDE,
I understand your point, but why?
Why be so hateful and elitist?
Mean and hateful, a lot of
you.
“You’re the ignorant ones.”
Why are you defending yourself?
You started this crap.
charlie: Without the U.S. economic engine driving the world economy and the uncountable BILLIONS of dollars in aid we dole out every year to the rest of you sorry-ass losers, this “wonderful world” of yours would turn on itself like a schnauzer chasing its tail.
Yaah, ummm, and exactly how much aid do WE collect every fiscal year??? Huh? Well???
[crickets]
Yaah … I thought so.
charlie = 100% right. See, charlie has his act together, he actually knows what he is talking about before he babbles off some ridiculous assumptions he has from God only knows who. Ignorance is the lack of knowledge, tHE dUDE. Arrogance is pretending like you know something when you really haven’t the foggiest notion. It is too bad that you posses both of these qualities. Some great things have come from the South just as great things have come from the North. The whole point of this article posted by MDN is to discuss the advancements of the retail stores for Apple – a company, for all intents and purposes, that comes from neither the North or the South. It’s America man, not the Confederate States. Open your mind up to the real world and where we are in it.
You libs are truly sick, it must really suck doing nothing else with your life other than looking for the bad in everything all of the time…

Market share. There is a lot more people concentrated in these areas than *exist* in most of those states.
Moreover they’re all hot cities for the kinds of industries Apple sells wel into, and have (in general) a more affluent consumer base.
It would be interesting to plot Nordstrom’s distribution on the same map, betcha it would look quite similar.
Bullsh*t:
You really are full of it aren’t you? Want the unpalatable truth, well here it is:
Around the world, for years now, the US has been rightly criticized for cutting back on its promised obligations and responsibilities, and that, when it has provided aid, it has been tied to its own odious foreign policy objectives.
The US ranked NEXT TO BOTTOM in terms of net ODA as a percentage of GNI in 2005? [ODA=Overseas Development Aid; GNI=Gross National Income]. In plain language, the US ranks slightly above poor little Portugal in terms of economic aid, with 20 of the world’s most developed nations giving more per capita.
In other words, numbnuts, this mythical “US economic engine” talks the talk of economic aid but simply does not deliver. If the US is so rich and powerful, how come Norway gives OVER FOUR TIMES the economic aid per capita than the US? In fact, so does Sweden, so does Luxembourg and the Netherlands. Gosh, when I do the research before opening my mouth, it turns out that ALL of the EU’s original 15 nations EACH, gives much, much more per capita than the US.
Aid as a percentage of GNI – the table of shame:
1st – Norway 0.94
2nd – Sweden 0.93
3rd – Luxembourg 0.90
4th – Netherlands 0.89
5th – Denmark 0.81
14th – Canada 0.34
19th – USA 0.22
20th – Portugal 0.21
I hope your pleased.
My god, US education has such a lot to answer for….
That should read:
21st – USA 0.22
22nd – Portugal 0.21
Ahh… that’s better. Well, for Norway anyhow…
I’ve seen horrors… horrors that you’ve seen. But you have no right to call me a murderer. You have a right to kill me. You have a right to do that… but you have no right to judge me. It’s impossible for words to describe what is necessary to those who do not know what horror means. Horror. Horror has a face… and you must make a friend of horror. Horror and moral terror are your friends. If they are not then they are enemies to be feared. They are truly enemies. I remember when I was with Special Forces. Seems a thousand centuries ago. We went into a camp to inoculate the children. We left the camp after we had inoculated the children for Polio, and this old man came running after us and he was crying. He couldn’t see. We went back there and they had come and hacked off every inoculated arm. There they were in a pile. A pile of little arms. And I remember… I… I… I cried. I wept like some grandmother. I wanted to tear my teeth out. I didn’t know what I wanted to do. And I want to remember it. I never want to forget it. I never want to forget. And then I realized… like I was shot… like I was shot with a diamond… a diamond bullet right through my forehead. And I thought: My God… the genius of that. The genius. The will to do that. Perfect, genuine, complete, crystalline, pure. And then I realized they were stronger than we. Because they could stand that these were not monsters. These were men… trained cadres. These men who fought with their hearts, who had families, who had children, who were filled with love… but they had the strength… the strength… to do that. If I had ten divisions of those men our troubles here would be over very quickly. You have to have men who are moral… and at the same time who are able to utilize their primordial instincts to kill without feeling… without passion… without judgment… without judgment. Because it’s judgment that defeats us.
It’s kinda nice.
At least now the US can outsource its slave labor to China instead of the South.
We’ve come so far.
OK Charlie (Euro) Brown (Noser), you win. We are a wretched nation. Your stats are right on, except when you combine private charities AND federal aid given.
So have fun moving to Norway, you smug asswipe. We won’t miss you.
Born in South Carolina
Raised in Texas
Old enough to appreciate my country
And young enough to woop your ass!
Hmmmm. Self-hatred combined with ignorant elitism is sooo attractive in American lefties (the Euros are unimportant–I say that as a recovering former Euro.)
And y’all just don’t understand why you keep losing elections. But keep it up–we’re only one vote away on the US Supreme Court from returning this country to democracy. And once we do that, how else are you going to impose your loony policies on the rest of us?
