Apple today introduced the new iPod U2 Special Edition as part of a continued partnership between Apple, U2 and Universal Music Group (UMG). The new U2 iPod is based on the fifth generation 30GB iPod and holds up to 7,500 songs, 25,000 photos or over 75 hours of video and features a distinctive, all-black stainless steel enclosure, red Click Wheel and custom engraving of U2 band member signatures. U2 iPod customers will also receive 30 minutes of exclusive U2 video downloadable from the iTunes Music Store. The new U2 iPod is available immediately for US$329.
“We’re thrilled to continue working with one of the greatest bands in the world to bring U2 fans a special edition of the world’s best digital music player,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s vice president of worldwide iPod Product Marketing, in the press release. “With its distinctive new design, including an all-black stainless steel enclosure, the new U2 iPod is sure to be a hit.”
Featuring seamless integration with the iTunes Music Store and the iTunes digital music jukebox, the new U2 iPod features Apple’s patent pending Auto-Sync technology that automatically downloads digital music, podcasts, photos, audiobooks, home movies, music videos and popular television shows onto the iPod and keeps them up-to-date whenever the iPod is plugged into a Mac or Windows computer using USB 2.0. The new U2 iPod features up to 14 hours of battery life for music playback.
The new 30GB U2 iPod is available immediately for a suggested retail price of $329 through the Apple Store, Apple’s retail stores and Apple Authorized Resellers. black stainless? nice
How come no one has told Apple that U2 is no longer good or cool?
U2, they are so 90’s
How come no one has told Apple that U2 is no longer good or cool?

Yeah, someone oughta let them know that the 4 million plus albums and the SOLD-OUT worldwide stadium tour was just a farce. I mean, if Apple is going to team up with a rock band, they should at least pick a band that is popular.
SS.
They’re only one of the most prolific rock bands ever.
Personally I can’t wait for the Wolf Parade special edition iPod. I hear they’re only making three of them.
Nice all black stainless steel enclosure. Me 2 so want.
Still waiting for the Nolan Sisters Special Edition.
Plus with all of the philantropy work Bono has been doing only solidifies their relevancy. Heck, most of their music from the past couple of decades is still very powerful and relevant.
U2 are a bunch of Langers.
Ask a native Irish friend what that means?
If you don’t have any Irish friends, and some of us don’t! then google ‘Irish langer’ and see what you get.
there you go troops, you have learned something today that was fun and multi-cultural. Gotta love the irish.

Is the front face still plastic, while the back is black metal?
Hey, I haven’t bought one of these yet but if I did it would scratch so I am suing Apple for anticipated emotional injury. I want damages and to stop them selling products that people can imagine to be inferior.
God Bless America.

In 2004-2005 U2:
1. Had a #1 Album which sold appx 4 million copies.
2. Won a 2005 Grammy for “Vertigo.”
3. Had the largest grossing tour of any rock band.
Not bad for some old chumps who arent “good or relevant” anymore.
I wonder if all stainless is going to be the trend for next gen iPod.
So, what’s U2 about it now? It’s only $30 more than a normal 30GB version, and only comes with a 30 minute video. They could have just as easily colored the click wheel a little differently and called it the Target iPod and offered $30 store credit when you buy one for $329. I guess if you like the colors, that’s cool, but I don’t see a lot of rabid U2 fans rushing out for this one.
little man, how bout the etched autographed stainless steel back.
I wonder if all stainless is going to be the trend for next gen iPod.
Yea, I wonder if this new U2 iPod has all flash memory inside too.

I agree there should be a Madaona iPod, a Pink iPod, etc etc.,
Unfortunatly artists get tons of requests to have their name attached to a product and they feel in a position of power not to give it out or are insanly greedy.
Steve Bono is wrapping up his career and getting ready for retirement, he’s pushing out a few more good songs and hooking up to Apple was good for him.

U2+APPLE = DEVIL’s MUSIC
PROOF I TELL YA, PROOF!
(Ya gotta love it)
Da Vinci: If I had Bono’s bank account you could call me a fool any day of the week.
That iPod is H-O-T hot. Love the black and red.
Apple is making a big mistake.
You need to make moves that are identifyable with the public – U2
iPod + R.A.T.M.
Seriously, U2 is lame – in the 80’s they were a different story.
After the U2 iPod was dropped, I bought one. I sold it on ebay where there was a bidding war. It ended up selling for about a hundred dollars more than what it was worth.
That might tell you why they brought the U2 iPod back.

The number of the beast is 616. 666 is sooo 90s.
personally I’d rather see a Prince or Apex Twin edition (complete with C.Cunningham graphics lol). But since they doesn’t produce any mainstream hits, artists like Madonna or U2 will more likely end up on a special edition. But then again, who buys these things anyway?
