Designer Maggie Stevens sent us a Magpie Outfit for Apple iPod nano to try out. The case fit our nano snugly and the reinforced vinyl material is sturdy stuff – good for running, biking, the beach, or just everyday life.
The Magpie Outfits are cut from six fabric/trim combos made from big prints, so each case is unique.
We tested the case by offering a nine-year-old girl three choices for her iPod nano: a black leather (very expensive) case, a pink neoprene case, and a Magpie Outfit case: she grabbed the Magpie so fast we dropped the other two cases on the floor.
We also liked the Magpie’s optional keychain attachment for backpack, jeans, or wherever you’d like to hook your nano. The belt clip lets you attach the nano “upside down,” so you can glance down to see the display easily.
Magpie Outfits for iPod nano retail for US$24.95 and Maggie tells us that cases for other iPod models are coming soon.

MDN was bought out. first ads, then more ads, then even more ads, and now the main stories are ads. disguisting.
God.
This is the worst yet.
The pits.
Stop, please.
If you don’t like the adds, you could always stop comming here, eh? Or is that too hard?
What next? A coconut scent diffusor that hooks to the dock connector?
This is obviously a joke, unless the company sees a big market in selling to pimps and their “employees”.
Why would you take Apple’s awesome design and hide it with something this ugly?

Hey LinuxGuy, the story had a real solid clue for you there… they showed it to a NINE-YEAR old GIRL. So no, they’re not thinking YOU will like it.
Hey MDN, I’m okay with this stuff from time to time. I guess if I don’t like it I can go make my own Mac website. (Cough.) Anyway, my three school-age daughters are gonna LOVE their new Magpie Nano doodads.
Thanks!
What retard would give a 9 year old an iPod.. seriously.
I realize that I am not the target market for these cases, therefore I have nothing to say about what I personally think about them beyond the fact that I will be buying one (Flamenco Lace with Red Trim) for my sister’s birthday.
Normally I wouldn’t even comment, but certain posts above.. well, you know.
face,
MDN was “bought out” for US$24.95?
My review is just two words: Shit Sandwich.
Female Mac and iPod user here. I’m buying one. Probably something guys can’t see, but my female friends here at work all liked most of the Magpie cases. Ease up, guys.
Ask your girlfriends if they like them, you’ll be surprised.
Jen,
The guys with girlfriends aren’t the ones saying MDN was “bought out” for 25 bucks and/or blasting a flowered iPod nano case review.
FactChecker,
Vicious, but factual.
Love it!
I wonder how many of the posts above are from MDN.
This site is horrible and I won’t be coming here any more. http://www.tuaw.com has all of the same stories hours earlier, fewer ads, no green text in their stories, not to mention better and more interesting news.
With a name like mac daily news, it would make sense to give out macintosh news–there shouldn’t be ipod news at all (that should be at ipoddailynews.com or, if it existed, appledailynews.com), but if there is going to be ipod news, I wish the site would stick to news. A review of a new case is hardly news. That is what bothers me about this website, and I am sure that it bothers the rest of you just as much.
@Jesus
“What retard would give a 9 year old an iPod.. seriously.”
I had a phonograph and a cassette deck when I was 5 or 6. Tapes and records were far more fragile than an iPod.
My nephew was coding at 9.
He has no problem taking care of his electronics.
If a child can’t take care of their electronic do-dads, I blame the parent.
Besides, kids these days are are more technologically advanced than most parents.
Seriously
face,
Don’t let the door hit your ass on the way out.
face,
that was the best. LOL
MDN Magic Word.. Planning what more ads?
these things are 4 chics.
If my wife/daughters wanted one of those, I’d hurl and take their iPods away!
Seriously.
They blow.

I’d like a Nehru version. That way Apple could use those stupid Beatles lookalikes from the Vegas tribute bands for an ad campaign.
Like, “Dress up your iPod nano in a nehru magpie and you can both look AND sound as insipid and moronic as that half-dead band of tools who are too stupid to take advantage of the iTunes Music Store and its millions of customers . . .
. . . Oh, and Yoko’s a whore.”
I’m just sayin’ . . .
They scream “LOSER!!!!!!”
I think they look nice.
