“Is the day near when you will get music on your BlackBerry and e-mail on your iPod? The idea of an ‘AppleBerry’ partnership between Research In Motion Ltd. and Apple Computer Inc. was floated yesterday by Peter Misek, an analyst with Canaccord Capital Inc., who last year accurately predicted a partnership between RIM and Intel Corp.,” Simon Avery reports for The Globe and Mail Update. “Such a deal would have huge merit because each company lacks what the other provides. RIM wants a firm foothold in the consumer market and Apple doesn’t have a presence in the booming wireless data sector, he said.”
Avery reports, “The two might jointly develop a new device: Apple could create a cellphone combining its iPod music device with RIM’s wireless technology, or RIM might embed Apple’s iTunes music into a future BlackBerry, he speculated. Senior executives at Intel have recommended that Apple work with RIM, Mr. Misek said in a research note.”

MacDailyNews Take: “AppleBerry” certainly is more appetizing than “BlackApple.” Although, “BlackApple” is sort of cool sounding. (both names are already in use in various ways by various companies). And, no, we’re not going to stoop to suggesting the combination of RIM and Steve’s last name.

A bigger mistake would for Apple to partner with RIM and starting making the devices in Dingle, Ireland. The press release might read,
” . . .Apple’s new Dingle ‘Berry from RIM, Jobs said in an interview.”
MW: ready?
Sorry for the dupe in advance but since we can’t make edits without duplicating . . .(here’s the intended version . . . I was half asleep earlier)
If Apple developed a partnership with RIM and decided to produce the device in Dingle, Ireland, it could result in an unintended faux pas. The press release might read,
” . . .pluck Apple’s new Dingle ‘Berry from RIM, Jobs said in an interview.”
MW: upon?
WEll…after reading all the anti Intel nonsense, I thought I ought to put some of this stuff to rest….Really…who give a flying FSCK what chip is in my computer so long as it is FSCKing fast and that means that one must have an Intel chip inside or an AMD as they seem to have won the race. It is the OS stupid …that is what makes a computer either good or awful. I use a Macbook Pro AND an ancient 500 mhz iMac and both have similar OSs and guess what? One is slower…gee whiz, who would have guessed? On the other hand, both can do pretty much the same things and for all practical purposes are the same computer as seen from the desktop. Does it REALLY matter how this occurs under the API…no it does not. Allow the engineers to design great chipsets and circuits and let the Apple code folks keep doing their magic and just use the damn things and stop belly aching about nothing. A computer is not a religion and a chipset is not a Talisman. It sounds like there are foks out there that actually think that a chip can be an enemy…I think that they might have gotten that idea from the Terminator, but, hey, it is not true…
