“Design, photography, music, film, motion graphics — unbound by discipline, creative pros are drawing from any or all of them to redefine the work they do. Meet three of these pros in video profiles featured in the newly designed Pro site. Explore the site further to read about the exciting work your fellow pros are engaged in, to learn the latest on what you can do with color, to get helpful tips to help you get the most out of the tools you use everyday, and more,” reads the blurb announcing the new Pro site on Apple.com.
Apple’s new Pro site is divided into four sections:
• Profiles: stories of how pros create “Design,” “Film & Video,” “Photography,” and “Music and Audio” with Apple products, plus links to Apple’s “Science” pages and more.
• Solutions: tips and tricks in the categories of “Design,” “Film & Video,” “Photography,” and “Music and Audio.”
• Mac OS X Tips: Excellent tips and tricks for Mac OS X and Mac applications.
• Resources: Downloads, Links, Seminars, and Quick Tours

Geraing up in time for the Mac Pro release?
I smell the beginings of a marketing campaign.
“I smell the beginings of a marketing campaign.”
Me too. But it’s a garlic and Parmesan cheese kind of smell. Nice.
The X-Men movie was SHIT!
When you actually check it out, it is really only showing artsy companies and groups, which only adds to the stereotypes of macs being bad for the office. I think apple should have tried to get a more diverse set of corperations. Such as that Japanese bank that just switched completely to macs.
aa bit slow, that has been up for a few days…
endlesselevation.com
Tom Strong: That’s disappointing. But I heard that they hint of another sequel at the end? If true, so much for the title.
Mutants use Macs.
” which only adds to the stereotypes of macs being bad for the office”
Wholeheartedly agree. I work for a B to B manfacturing company. I insisted on Macs for the marketing department. It hasn’t been easy but management hasn’t been able to argue with success. Not surprisingly, we have been the only ones up and running during several Windows virus onslaughts.
Ampar: Has management at your company, openly acknowledged the fact that marketing has been the only ones up and running during those virus onslaughts? Did you hammer them pretty good about it?
MW: “ever” Why in hell did we “ever” install those &%#@* Windows machines?
“Ampar: Has management at your company, openly acknowledged the fact that marketing has been the only ones up and running during those virus onslaughts? Did you hammer them pretty good about it?”
You can only embarass management so far. People hate being shown how wrong they are. IT’s reaction was non-existent as expected. It makes them look stupid. The best reaction has been obvious. I started there in 1992. I bought Quadras for everyone. I upgraded and replaced all of the Macs ever since. I was a mini-IT department. I have seven Macs at home mostly from these upgrades. I have a dual 2 Ghz G5 at work now. I can’t wait to take that baby home next!
Typing this using a G4 733 Digital Audio with 1.5 GB RAM courtesy of the company.
You know the whole video/still picture industry that drives the Internet but most people don’t talk about? When are we gonna start seeing porn sites that say “Made on a Mac”? I don’t think Apple would be bragging about that though.
Ampar: that’s cool that you’ve been your own “mini-IT” department.
You’ve had a great opportunity to learn lot’s about Macs.
wonderboy:
I took a class on Mac repair years ago, The final exam was to disassemble and reassemble a Mac – blindfolded and timed. That was fun! Of course, if it had been a Mac clone like a Umax it could have been bloody.
Ampar,
Best…..First…..Post…..Ever!
Now, help me get off this damn merry-go-round! The giant bats are coming back…
Does anyone else see the giant swimming sperm on Apple’s Pro site?
Look on the right-hand side.
Cubert:
Sounds like you need the comfort of a 300 pound Samoan attorney.
Would it be as fun if it was a Merry-Go-Square? Merry-Go-Cube?
Yikes!
Ampar: so I guess that all of us MDN readers can start sending our Macs with hardware problems direct you. Software issues, too?

I’d like to see an Apple site specifically for business — analogous to their pro site! They could make a killer case for the use of Macs in biz!
Virus free, stablility, OS X, productivity, software available, stories from businesses that use Macs (like the Japanese bank), easy learning curve, etc., etc. It could be a terrific educational and marketing piece!
If Apple won’t do it (and I agree with MDN about Apple not marketing Macs very well, esp. to biz) how about an independant site? Anyone here game for that?
MW: “even” Apple doesn’t “even” let people know the advantages of using OS X.
“giant swimming sperm”
Not nearly as frightened as the enormous vagina required to accomodate them. Go, go Vag-zilla. Yeah.
“If Apple won’t do it (and I agree with MDN about Apple not marketing Macs very well, esp. to biz) how about an independant site? Anyone here game for that?”
Macfixit, Macintouch, etc. are trying that. I’ve been a Mac help desk for decades. A new employee to our business said he couldn’t imagine a computer without spyware and viruses.
Viral marketing is working for Apple but it’s also annoying.
My opinion as an AAPL owner.
MW: basic, nice.
If my sperm looked like those — I’d get a vasectomy!
(Actually — maybe they do. I haven’t checked lately and I do live near the Nevada test site…)

Made on a Mac by me.
business: you’re right, of course — I just think it should be done differently.
Ampar: nice site! congrats! I liked the corp brochure, too.
Thanks, wonderboy.
It only took thirteen years to perfect this site!
I want to work with womens’ lingerie next. Umm, online of course.
Ampar: you could call it “Ampar’s Secret” — Look out Vicky!
Ampar, did you post that URL because you realize that Macintouch and Macfixit (although good enough for what they’re doing) aren’t doing a great job promoting Mac (and neither is Apple) and you’d “consider” building a site to do that, as per my prior post?
