Since Eisenhower left office no Republican President has had a balanced budget. Not Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bush I or ‘W’. So much for the G.O.P. being the party of fiscal responsibility. BTW- Clinton had a balanced budget, ‘W’ hasn’t even come close.
The G.O.P. is supposed to be the party better at Foreign Policy, Intelligence and Defense. Does anybody seriously believe that our relations with our allies, our Intelligence or our Armed Forces are in good shape and are guided by effective policy?
The G.O.P. is supposed to be the party better at economic polices. They claim that their policies will create jobs, wealth, opportunity, etc. The lowest unemployment in modern US history occurred during the Clinton Administration. Our nation has suffered a net loss of jobs under every Republican Administration since Eisenhower left office.
Under ‘Every Child Left Behind’ we now have a 50+% drop-out rate in the latino and black communities nationally. The overall HS Graduation rate is now under 70%. That is not a prescription for a bright future for our nation.
There is more, but you get the idea.
I like ice cream, enchiladas, beer, nice cars
and, oh yeah, Macs! There must be a better
subject for us to discuss.MDN post a new item
quickly before everyone has a coronary please!
MW – rather: I would rather open a vein than
watch this continue, but I guess it’s like a
train wreck. I can’t look away.
Are the Republican iPods going to come with earbuds or butt plugs?
Republicans would be easier to take if they weren’t doing such a thorough job of screwing the lower 80% of the economic strata in the US. Tax cuts for the rich, but increased government spending. Who’s going to pay for that? You and me. Increaed interest rates on student loans to keep people from getting too much education and keep paying the head of Sallie Mae $750K per year to run a goverment (read taxpayer, as in you and me) guaranteed loan program that would be headed by a $150K per year Civil Servant if the program hadn’t been “privatized”.
I could go on and on. The Republicans chose a drunken liar to head the country and only got him in office by getting the Supreme Court to agree that his civil rights would be violated if the votes were counted in Florida. Why should anyone forgive them.
Oh Eric, your are right. I could kill someone with my iPod (3rd Gen). It’s be much harder with a nano or a shuffle. I couldn’t kill thousands though, but I could have sex in an office while wearing one.
What’s worse, a sin with one or murdering thousands and taking the civil liberties of millions?
Don’t get into a moral argument with the current administration as your yard stick.
I don’t have to be a Rep or a Dem to say any of this. Just a human.
How about a Green Party model?
No wait… Ralph Nader would probably have it recalled.

Nice spelling Christoff. I love it when illiterates respond. I assume you meant “croutons” instead of your misspelled “cretans”. I always like it when I walk among the croutons. They go well with salad.
The only song on the GOP iPod should be “American Idiot” by Greenday. They wrote it especially for him.
“You pinko, liberal, commies make us all sick! You are pathetic. Immediate 2nd grade bashing when MDN posts anything that mentions a Republican. You people will never get any where in life.”
A good representative of the conservative movement. They are so blinded by their own narrow views they have to draw these broad sweeping generalizations about all people who think different(ly) than they do.
It’s like watching a bunch of programmed robots.
And by the way, by “us” who exactly do you mean? ‘Us’ as in you and your pet iguana?
And BTW, sadly for you dear fellow American, there are plenty of “us” who are getting along just fine in life. How about you?
Fresh news item MDN, fast, now!
MW- bring: Bring it!
The Bush economy is fabulous, mainly due to the Bush investment tax cuts in 2003. The ineffective Dem tax cuts were tried in 2001 and the job growth and investment and slumped for another couple of years. Since the Bush tax cuts, millions of well-paying, high-quality jobs have been created, and the boom will continue for several more years (i.e., until Dem economic policies are put in place, by either party).
Iraq is at a turning point now that they’ve brought all key factions together and a new prime minister in their new, constitutionally-established government. Whether they fail, or succeed, will be determined in the next 6 months. Thank goodness we have someone with ba**s as the US President right now. After a brilliant win, Bush certainly screwed up the occupation and liberation of Iraq in ’03 and ’04, but they corrected course and have had it right for at least the past year. There’s NO question, however, that liberating the millions in Iraq and Afghanistan was the morally correct thing to do. And if it eventually works, will be a HUGE contribution to a safer, saner world, for all of us.

One of these days all you so-called conservatives will thank the left they were trying to stop the erosion of civil liberties in this country. In the meantime, I’ll just refer to all of you as accomplices.
And its really funny to hear people vilify someone for being a liberal. You’ve been brainwashed into thinking that liberal means communist. Thats really hilarious and sad at the same time. I consider myself quite liberal on many issues but I’d never argue against capitalism unless it was completely out of hand and had taken over our government and was being used against us…
One of these days you’ll realize being a liberal is more about freedom. Maybe one day you’ll realize that.
Christoff, why do the “other people” of the world hate us so much? Because they hate everything? Nobody likes to be defeated and humiliated and made to behave in ways that are contrary to their beliefs.
If you think other people hate because of geography, then you need to get your learn-on.
How would American feel if Iran defeated our army and took over our country? Or to a lesser degree, defeated Canada and Mexico and destroyed our economy and held us at the end of a sword? We would be humiliated and angry. We would want to kill any Iranian we saw.
That goes for any nation to any nation.
What we are seeing is human nature. We need to get our politics out of other counties and clean up our own house. We need to rely on our own energy primarily. We have the means. It sickens me to know how we get our energy. It bothers me that I drive so far to work and that I’m a hipocrite to support the oil economy.
Bush to his credit seems to be slowly learning these lessons, but in the meantime he is destroying what America is an what we stand for. We are America the Greedy Cowards. We are America the Brave, America the Land of Hope, America the Land of Freedom.
Be free or die. That goes for Americans and Palestinians, Iranians, Russians and Tamal Tigers. We all deserve our own nation with our own values.

The Mission – Queensryche
That is a damn good song.
All the morons callng Liberals ‘terrorist lovers’ are almost funny if they weren’t so scary. They collectively have to overcompensate for their viewpoint by spinning anyone who thinks in opposition to them as being an extremist. Their puny brains cannot reason so they just paint with a broad brush and they feel all better about their hate.
A couple of weeks ago a news programme over here in the UK carried an item about a march by Iraq war veterans in the USA.
At some point during the march, they went past a factory in the South which was involved in making armoured personnel carriers for the Army or Marines.
Reporter goes to the fence of the factory and asks one of the guys what he thinks of the vets marching against the war.
His reply actually contained the phrase…”they had it coming to them cos they’re worshipping the wrong God”.
I’m sure that says something about something!
Hammer: “All the morons callng Liberals ‘terrorist lovers’ are almost funny if they weren’t so scary.”
I tend to agree, no-one likes folks that want to kill them, I mean please! The WTC – NY had all walks of Americans within.
Still waiting on a news item to save us from this MDN!
Kate, was it morally right to “liberate” the Iraqi oil fields without a plan to win the peace? Was it morally right to throw out decades of Iraq invasion planning to prove that we can invade a country unilaterally with less than 200k troops? Was it morally right to put trillions of dollars to “liberate” a few million Arabs when $50 billion could keep AIDS from killing millions of Africans and stop to wars? What about Darfor?
What about Haiti? Who’s making PEACE in the world? You don’t force democracy at the point of a gun. Go take American history and learn how many times we forced a coop here and an invasion there and see we have pretty close to a 100% failure rate.
How long will the Iraqis be fighting the insurgency? Thousands are being killed and kidnapped. It is a civil war like Vietnam with death squads roving the streets. US forces don’t understand the culture and can’t speak the language. They never wanted us there. Sadam was their problem not our and now they have never been less secure and more afraid.
Under Sadam terrible things happened every couple years. Now terrible things are a daily occurrence. Kids used to play in the streets and go to school and go to church without being kidnapped and murdered.
Ruining Iraq was not morally right. It could have been different. It should never nave been done in the first place though.
The war in this forum is almost as effective as Bush’s war in Iraq!
Christoff is right on the money. Nora Harris, I suppose you think Hitler was victimized by the US too. You make me sick. It’s really scary how many f*cked up liberlas there are. What would you idiots be doing if Iran does invade the US via a terrorist nuke or other means? What would you do? Tell them you’re sorry for being an American? It’s all our fault that they are crazy society suppressing phsycos. F off all of you piece of sh*t libs.
You know… I always find it amusing when Cons call Libs cowards. I mean… how many times did Cheney defer? Where was Bush when his country called?
Course maybe I’m thinking of some other type of courage. Perhaps Cons mean courage, as in the courage required to chain a black guy to the bumper of a pickup and drive around town. Or the courage to tie a gay kid to a fence and beat him to death. Or the courage to eviscerate the Constitution. Or the courage to boldly lie to the American people. Maybe it’s the courage to send our sons to their death in an oil war.
If that’s what they mean, than I agree, conservatives are way more courageous than Libs.
Yeah… could be this is all just a semantics issue.
“His reply actually contained the phrase…”they had it coming to them cos they’re worshipping the wrong God”.
I’m sure that says something about something!”
Unfortunately, yes, it does. But please don’t generalize.
Oh the disgusting smell of G Stank! What a waste of space on this planet that chap is. He sure whimped out when Jay Rice challenged him to a debate at the London Pubs. Hillarious!
The Mission – Queensryche
That is a damn good song.
Yes. That whole album rocks.
