Bear Stearns analysts Andrew Neff, William Hand and Ted Chung weigh in on Apple’s special event scheduled for February 28th: “Video iPod likely — but could be tablet-size or HDTV-based. As speculation begins to build around what AAPL could announce on February 28, we think — focusing on the adjectives ‘fun’ and ‘new’ — the most likely products are either a tablet-size iPod or larger HDTV-based iPod… While more Intel-based products (new iBook or iMacs) or a phone are possible, neither strikes us as ‘fun’ or ‘new.’ Or it could be one more thing,” The Consumer Electronics Stock Blog reports.

the problem with a tablet like ipod is that you would have to do it better than a PSP but cheeper than an iBook. otherwise, what’s the point?

Let’s all return to planet earth people. If Apple was going to intro half of the things being speculated here, don’t you think that ObeJobs would make sure that he was presenting it in a keynote style performance? But I see no indication of that. We would all like to have an antimatter powered iPod, or inter-dimentional iBook with hyper-light networking, or an iTunes plugin that performs precognitive 3D visualizations and I am sure Apple is working on these things but lets give them at least an extra month or so.

If Apple DOES make an HD iPod video, then PLEASE make it FULL HD resolution and support 1080 and 1080i (or is it 1080p?).

If Apple used a screen with pixels the size of those, say, on a digital camera screen, then an HD screen could be 9 in. diagonal.
1080i is common. 1080p is sharper and less common, and capable TVs are more expensive.

I was shopping on the Apple Online Store and noticed that a ton of gaming software has been dropped from their stock, the same is true of the retail stores.
The resale (Red Tag) section is empty.
The Apple Stores (Brick & Mortar) are bereft of iBooks and Mac minis. Not missing from a display, not on display at all.
