The Beatles were so fucking high they even let Ringo sing a few songs!
Jason, your point is…?
Jason:
Well yes, however your statement, no matter to what degree it is accurate, doesn’t negate the fact that Marshall Mathers is, inspite of his fame and appeal to SOME people, gutter trash pure and simple. That said it is important to note that many people would question the wisdom of using him in Apple ads hawking the iPod or any other Apple product for that matter.
One can conclude that Apple is trying to appeal to a segment of the population that identify with Mather’s “values” or some such whatever they may or may not be to sell product (iPod in this case).
Now having stated that many, many people in the Mac commuinity, including myself, feel that TV ads featuring Mac OS X and the Mac line of desktops and portables would be a better use of advertising dollars than having someone at the fringe of good taste, morals and so on in ANY Apple ad. These people, including myself, have that right to that informed opinion.
Cool looking spot, but the thug should be in jail.
In addition, many people in the Mac community would love to see the shiny growth that iTunes and the iPod have enjoyed be translated in Mac sales, both desktop and portables.
A very effective way to accomplish this is through TV ads.
Don’t get me wrong, but I totally agree. But it seems that Apple is targeting a specific demographic that does like Eminem’s music, mainly kids, and young adults who grew up listening to this type of music.
I totally agree with you, I’d prefer to see at least one OS X commercial sometime before I die…
man fuck yall eminem is awsome…
havnt seen the commercial yet
OK, so I’m an old guy and can’t quite understand how this whole rap/hip hop/whatEVER music is still popular after 20 fskin’ years, but, that aside, I looked at both ads, and I think that the M&M ad is far more similar to the original iTunes ads than it is to the Lugz ad. I think that the Lugz people are trying desperately to come up with revenue. Can’t innovate? Litigate! (OK, so I stole that from MDN… so SUE ME!)
Magic word = court, as in see you in… Aw shit, forgot to type in the word, now the word is felt, as in felt like an ass for doing this anyway.
In the show Biz, Publicity is GOOD for business. Good or bad. Just look yourselves. You peeps that like the spot are kewl with it. You that don’t, or that don’t like Eminem, still saw it and remember it. And, most of all, remember the product……Gotcha, didn’t they
