“Several tipsters are reporting that, like the iPod mini, iMacs are suddenly reflecting wait times of 7-10 business days for direct orders from the Apple online store. iMacs had previously shown ‘same business day’ ship estimates… sources close to the company claim that the flow of G5 microprocessors from IBM has improved significantly over the past few months. Apple, at its discresion, could improve on the iMac’s performance anytime, sources said. The iMac continues to be a hot seller in February, and such a move would aim to preserve the iMacs momentum, sources added. A 2GHz iMac has been stable for some time. Meanwhile, reports from inside the company hint that a significant announcement will be made on or around Wednesday of next week,” AppleInsider reports.

Why do you Mac drones keep spewing the same crap? Get a new line or you’ll never convince even a casual eMachine user like me to switch. The reality is that Macs are way more expensive and under-powered. You try to justify this by talking about all the wonderful crap that is included, but most people don’t care a bit about all that garbage.
You’ve sold yourselves so well that you don’t even know how blind you are to the alternatives that exist to your closed, incompatible platform.
“Did you factor in the price of Anti Virus and spyware software? Oh i forgot, you probably just pirate them.”
hmmm…lets not try and beat nomacforyou the same false tactics. AVG and ad-aware are both very good and free.
“Or the time lost with security updates ?”
comeon…both OS’s have security updates…XP just has more of them.
“Or the constant restarts?”
now you’re just plain making stuff up…Restarts, my XP box and imac have both been up the same amount of time. And no, no BSODs in over 3 years.
“Or the sluggishness of Windows over a period of time?”
Again, stop it…you look like a fool….XP has been up for 4 months with no sluggishness….same with imac.
“Or the free software you get on a Mac that most people will need and use?”
you gotta point. XP boxes ship with crap.
“And don’t compare Celeron with a 64-bit G5.”
Thats what I said.
NoMacForYou is BSOD…He’s trying to piss people off using my callsign (NoMacForYou). He’s also using Ben and Lisa, So just ignore the troll..How pathetic. (and original)
Oh and a 2.0 ghz iMac would be just another upgrade…not a real big one…
BSOD Just cant get over the fact that I got under his skin, so now he’s talking shit using my name..fsck em.
and it’s not eveen good trolling. c’mon if you’re gonna do it, do it right.
I’ve just read this thread and some of the posts are humorous, but having not commented yet I’m wondering why I was suddenly accused of posting under someone else’s moniker. What is the point of that?
NoMacForYou, your earlier posts were slightly amusing, and it doesn’t seem that anyone here actually minded them, so why do you now feel the need to attribute them to someone else – and why me of all people? This is just plain strange and childish.
I’ve only casually read MDN over the last several days and have posted just a handful of comments. I occasionally call you on your ridiculous posts, but no more than anyone else seems to. Why this sudden attack against me personally? You have a clear pattern of attacking people who dispute your wild posts, but why attack me when I haven’t even commented on this topic.
I’m sure I’m not alone in saying that while your posts are sometimes humorous, we all have a limited amount of patience for trolls like you going out of your way to post your nonesense to a Mac forum like this one. If you are as big a Wintel fanboy as you profess, then I’m sure you already know of plenty of Wintel-centric forums to which you can spew your anti-Mac venom.
Please, the web master of MDN, please filter out those profanity generated by NoMacForYou, or BSOD, or who ever. Let get back to normal Mac subjects please. Anyway, that devious NoMacForYou,or the imposter or whatever, seems not afraid of anyone but botox.
Thats what I say, He should be taking tips from my old posts.
What the F? I’ve been away from MDN for a week or so and I come back to all these comments by imposters. I may not be a Mac zealot, but I didn’t think that the balanced commentary I’ve posted in the past would make me a target to be impersonated so much.
Don’t you people have anything better to do with your time? And what’s up with this person who is obsessed with BSOD? Don’t drag me into your weirdo infatuation.
BSOD, Its seems that the last time we spoke (spat) about whatever it was, all of the sudden you weren’t posting as yourself but as NoMacForyou (either a) you weren’t posting at all, or B) you where posting as myself). I haven’t written anything but good things about Macs on this site for awhile now but someone keeps posting as me just to show that “NoMacForYou” means to be nothing but a dumb fscking troll. If you read these posts by nomacforyou you would start to realize that it is someone else posting (Doesn’t it seem strange that I would call you all Idiots, Then turn around and say something complementary?. I just thought it was strange that your presence here was daily. Then, all of the sudden you were gone. And posts began to show up using my callsign. If I was wrong and it wasn’t you, then I apologize. But don’t castrate me for someone else’s childish, pathetic posts. I come here to read, get a laugh and sometimes post my opinion. The A-hole trying to give me a bad name can do it all he wants. But it won’t make me change my name or my opinion. Oh, and just so you don’t think I’m full of BS. I am a PC/Mac guy, But I don’t rail on people on this site and I’m not biased towards either platform.

newsflash…
Most if not all the people who post here as mac-haters are actually avid fanatic maccies.
A devoted PC user would not surf to a “Mac” news site unless he was a sympathizer.
It’s a common propaganda technique also used by any wartime nation…
To “(the real)NoMacForYou”
In reference to the link you posted above…
Whoever you are, I hadn’t even read that news item. Some of us have jobs and can’t dedicate every waking minute to MDN. Since you’re accusing me (why, I don’t know) of impersonating YOU, then doesn’t simple logic dictate that the same person could have impersonated me?
Think on it a bit and cut the personal attacks. I really don’t care at all about you and your childish rants.
I miss Sputnik-
nomacforyou will have to do
all power drivel
This thread has gotten so awesome. I love it. Anyway, I knew it was a different NoMacForYou, because I read some of their earlier posts and it was apparent that they are actually for Macs. So someone hijackedd the name, what’s new? Someone hijacked BSOD too? Wow, crazy. Are they loving that BSOD is trying to fight with the real NoMacForYou? Yes.
By the way, this isn’t the real G-Spank…
I too miss Sputnik. Man, those were some good posts. Everyone would get fired up by that guy – and back then Joe McConnel wasn’t such a homer, so he’d get us all fired up, too.
I think Ron really was the catalyst in bringing the level of commentary into the basement. I really didn’t mind seeing him disappear, but he’s clearly been replaced by a new crop of trolls that are at least as annoying.
Too bad since MDN does a very credible job of identifying a wide swath of stories of interest to us Mac die-hards. Their efforts would be much better served by more insightful commentary on all parts.
On another thread I proposed the idea of turning on the registration feature in ExpressionEngine. Keep the site free, and make registration simple, but require some form of email validation to allow posting. It seems like that would eliminate a lot of this random impersonation and garbage posting.
Of course that entered my mind. If your so hung up about the whole thing..And my “childish” rants..(the above post was an apology if you didnt notice) then fine, whatever. I have a job too. And I cant sit around all day “ranting” on MDN either. Sometimes its nice to take a break though and peruse around a bit. Maybe the ZDNet Commentator was right.
Magic Word “Common” as in (People pre-judging others is a common mistake)
But oh well…I guess I’ll just jump back on my short yellow school bus.Since my apology just wasnt enough. Geez
(thereal)NoMacForYou:
I did read your qualified apology, but it seemed to be buried in the midst of more accusations. No matter, I doubt the real perpetrator will cease their infantile posts, so we’ll just have to deal with it.
The funny thing is that I’m not even interested in an updated iMac because the current crop of built-in displays just don’t meet my needs. I know I can use a hack to enable monitor-spanning, but I’m not the type to put hacks on my machines – I rely on them too much.
Yep, I guess we will just have to “deal” with it…
Why do you Mac drones keep spewing the same crap?
—
Because the Macs advantages over Windows have not budged. Even after all these years of being ripped off, Apple still remains the only company interested in things like security and innovation.
Why not respond to some of the criticisms like, “Yeah a Dell costs about the same after you factor in Anti-Virus software”… or “How fast will you Dell be after it’s been slammed by adware or some new virus?” or “Don’t you know a 2Ghz G5 is not the same as a 2Ghz P4?”
Answering legitimate questions from the Mac faithful would go a long way towards being listened to.. rather than being labeled a troll, because you’re spewing rhetoric not actual information.
best/worst.thread.ever
HeheHeeee…..
In an attempt to get this forum back to the subject at hand….
To the posters who said they are saving & waiting for the 3GHz (or more) dual G5s…. Don’t forget that IBM supplied Apple with a few prototype dual G5 chips last August. That’s “chip”, as in 2 G5 cores in a single chip. So what you really should be waiting for is a dual dual G5. Can you imagine it? A QUAD G5 at 3GHz per processor. That’s when I give my dual 1.4G G4 to my son and move to the G5 world.
Magic word is “youre”, as in “you’re getting a quad G5”
Mac & PC Guy is right. There is always the “one additional thing” that would make the next Mac release perfect. I think that most people would agree that all Macs could use a boost in the standard GPU and that GPU should also provide DVI out. The iMac G5 does indeed scream for a sister screen option. In general, CPU bumps are incremental advances that I take for granted. Going from 1.8GHz to 2.0GHz is nice, but not a real selling point for me. The 20″ iMac was a nice addition. I don’t know that that trend will go too much farther, though. Should Apple offer a 23″ iMac G5, a 30″ iMac G5??? My initial thought was that the all-in-one form factor would begin to break down after you go past the 20-24″ range. If the LCD prices drop far enough, however, then why not attach a compact Mac to the back with wireless keyboard/mouse and multiple ports for firewire, USB and high end video/audio out? Miniturization means that the computer can be attached to any display.
Even so, I think that Apple should offer a Mac mini G5 as an alternative so that you can hook it up to the display of your choice (including HDTVs, etc.).
BUUUUUUUUURRRRRRPPP !!!!!
Gosh, those top-10 supercomputers made with xServe grids must really be fast at not doing any work at all….
Expensive government toys… <sigh>
theloniousMac,
I get a giggle out of needling NoMacForYou, and one when he replies with something asinine. I also don’t mind if he just goes away. Either way, I win, it’s funny, and it is at his expense.
