“Back in May, tech leaders such as John Chambers, chief executive officer of Cisco Systems Inc., and Michael Dell, chairman of Dell Inc., threw their support behind George W. Bush. John Kerry has industry backing of his own, including that of Apple Computer Inc.

Saddam, America and France. The first headline on the Duelfer report, which was out yesterday, was that Saddam didn’t have weapons of mass destruction (search). We all know that.
The second headline is that France and other countries were bribed by the brutal dictator in the U.N. oil-for-food (search) scam. We predicted that would happen last July.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
O’REILLY: I mean, France is a corrupt country. We’re going to see in the oil-for-food scandal that high-ranking French officials were paid off. The money went through a Paris bank.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
OK and here are the facts: According to chief arms inspector Charles Duelfer (search), at least three high ranking French officials took cash and/or oil vouchers, which were worth millions, in return for assuring Saddam, France would not move against Iraq in the U.N. security council and giving members of Saddam’s regime access to French President Jacques Chirac (search). This evidence comes directly from Saddam’s files captured after his downfall.
The French ambassador to the U.S.A., Jean David Levitte (search) sent us this statement. “As the Ambassador of France, I have been outraged to read or hear in some media that France had opposed the war in Iraq because our vote might have been bought by Saddam Hussein. Frankly, this is outrageous.”
Now we’ve invited Ambassador Levitte to appear with us next week. In the past, he has declined.
This situation has implications for the presidential race. John Kerry, as you know, has put forth that he will court countries like France to help us in Iraq. That’s part of his plan. President Bush has been criticized for alienating France and other countries. But now you know the undercover story. So you can decide which candidate has the right world vision.
President Bush can’t directly criticize France, because if re-elected, he needs that country’s help in a variety of areas. But I can.
Just yesterday Jacques Chirac made a series of anti-American statements in Hanoi, Vietnam. Once again, Chirac is an enemy of the United States. And if you don’t believe that, we can’t help you.
By the way, “Boycott France” bumper stickers are still available on billoreilly.com. And we urge you to send one to the French embassy in Washington.
But seriously, doesn’t this tee you off that we have American soldiers dying in Iraq, while behind the scenes major players in France, Russia and other countries were being bribed by Saddam? It’s simply disgraceful.
“Talking Points” urges all Americans to wise up about the war on terror. Many countries in the world simply are not going to help us defeat the Islam fascists. And we have no choice but to defeat them. We have to do it.
So every vote you make on the national level should reflect that reality.
And that’s “The Memo.”

What do you think Bush will do after he is president? Become an international diplomat? Fight world hunger? Buy a baseball team, drill some oil? What about his kids, what do they fight for? Parties?
This is your president. Is this your America?
I will vote for a better America.
Faux News …
“We Distort … you comply”
So G5Mac thinks that Kerry did something bad by opposing the Vietnam war after HAVING FOUGHT IN IT. Yes, he was there, doing his duty. Dubya avoided the war by going to the National Guard, where he didn’t even do his time. Yes, he chickened out.
The same people that think that Dubya should be the Commander In Chief are the ones that said that there was no way Clinton should be because he avoided the war.
If you are going to say that Kerry is bad for opposing the war, what do you think of Chicken Shit Dubya that had his father pull strings to keep him out? EH? EH??!?!?!
Vote Kerry- Let him have the queer vote
It’s tough to use your mac when your building gets hit by an airliner.
Vote for the only candidate who unapologettically does something about it, and doesn’t bow down to local/foreign politicians. (…and who doesn’t have a place in the communist hall of fame.)
GO PRESIDENT BUSH!!!!
I warned you about career politicians and entanglement in foreign affairs (see my farewell address). All I see is two varieties of artificial vanilla.
“Observe good faith and justice toward all nations. …Cultivate peace and harmony with all… Who can doubt that in the course of time and things the fruits of such a plan would richly repay any temporary advantages which might be lost by a steady adherence to it?
…In the execution of such a plan nothing is more essential than that permanent, inveterate antipathies against particular nations and passionate attachments for others should be excluded, and that in place of them just and amicable feelings toward all should be cultivated. The nation which indulges toward another an habitual hatred or an habitual fondness is in some degree a slave.
…So, likewise, a passionate attachment of one nation for another produces a variety of evils. … Real patriots who may resist the intrigues of the favorite are liable to become suspected and odious, while its tools and dupes usurp the applause and confidence of the people to surrender their interests.
The great rule of conduct for us in regard to foreign nations is, in extending our commercial relations to have with them as little political connection as possible.
…Europe has a set of primary interests which to us have none or a very remote relation. Hence she must be engaged in frequent controversies, the causes of which are essentially foreign to our concerns. Hence, therefore, it must be unwise in us to implicate ourselves by artificial ties in the ordinary vicissitudes of her politics or the ordinary combinations and collisions of her friendships or enmities.
Our detached and distant situation invites and enables us to pursue a different course.
…Why forego the advantages of so peculiar a situation? Why quit our own to stand upon foreign ground? … It is our true policy to steer clear of permanent alliances with any portion of the foreign world, … I hold the maxim no less applicable to public than to private affairs that honesty is always the best policy. Taking care always to keep ourselves by suitable establishments on a respectable defensive posture, we may safely trust to temporary alliances for extraordinary emergencies.”

For G5Mac,
Getting tough, eh boy. Looking to whip out a can of whoopass to defend fumbling Georgie who ran to papa and his pals to protect him from serving in Nam and even now when he wants to make “internets” part of our vocabulary.
Boy, keep trying in vain to defend ol Georgie and his crew. And go ahead walking and talkin, telling people ya been surfin’ them dar “internets” to the locals in town, ya hear Mr.Dumass?
Liberating 35 million people tells me who to vote for!!
Ah well, just a big yawnfest now, isn’t it? I don’t know how US voters cope with this just going on and on and on for so long.
I’ve also had a thought on the accusations of media bias that come from both left and right above. Could it be true that neither party’s manifesto can withstand the scrutiny of serious analysis?
Face it people. The USA is no longer a democracy. It is an illusion of one. Same for the UK and the rest of the “Western” world. Corrupt as hell. Do you think if we club together and buy the Cook Islands or somewhere, we could form a new state, actually based on honesty and integrity? How long would you give it before the international money men destroyed it?
Please bring back all the “Macs are Great!” articles if this is the alternative.
Doodle (trying to push the worms back in the can)
The only Bush I’d trush is my own.
oops… trust is my own.
War criminals Bush, Cheney and Sharon in to jail! Now!
Oy, is anyone reading each and every one of these posts? Bush has had four years, his record on science is clear, which is why most scientists are backing Kerry.
http://www.johnkerry.com/issues/technology/
Bush has also single handedly destroyed US economy. So his record in that is also clear.
Afganistan under US rule produces 75% of the cocaine in the world. Is this the way Bush administration will pay the war in Iraq?
Why are all the right wingnut “arguments” just copied and pasted? Do you guys think for yourself, or do you get all of your thoughts from sanctioned right wing talking points outlets?
Randolf & Alan:
It must be difficult for you guys to see the world in shades of gray. Do you understand that all of those quotes don’t prove your point that Bush made the right decision in Iraq and the Dems are being inconsistent by having said all of those things?
The Dems were as caught up in the fervor to oust Saddam as most of the Washington politicos were. Nonetheless, they were still calling for measured action, not brash unilateralism. They wanted a comprehensive approach, not some half-assed one like Bush implemented.
No matter how you try to spin Bush’s incompetence, the fact of the matter is the UN sanctions were working. We could have easily found a way to contain Saddam without having to invade Iraq. Would Saddam work against the sanctions? Of course. Would upholding the sanctions and containing Saddam be difficult? Of course. But none of this difficulty would ever reach the level that Iraq is at now. Diplomacy takes bravery, confidence, and moral certitude. Bush has none of these.
The vain attempts to impugn the UN Oil for Food program are specious. The Oil for Food program was the largest humanitarian aid effort ever and the number of administrators under investigation is only three. The favored vouchers were not exclusive to France, Russia, and China. US companies and individuals were also involved. The radical right only focuses on France et al because it suits their divisive and belligerent rhetoric. No human system is perfect, especially diplomatic systems. Diplomacy may be messy and frustrating, but it is better than a poorly prosecuted invasion and occupation.
The wonderful, universal, and inescapable similarity of Bush, Kerry, and all other humans on planet Earth is that no one is morally equivalent to G-d.
The fact that no one is morally perfect should give one pause to consider the consequences of individual culpability and judgment before the King of the universe.
Confident? Unsure? Skeptical? Cynical?
Take the Are you a good person test? at http://www.wayofthemaster.com
Are you talking about Yawey? That asshole who made a bet with Satan to see how much torture Job could stand? Or that asshole who teased that guy to sacrifice his son? I think I can claim moral superiority to that.
Accept no alien influence. Humans need to save themselves; don’t wait for some alien to do it for us.
Bush is a complete and utter dolt, an international joke. The reason France, Germany and China want to see Kerry win is that they are tired of dealing with a mindless criminal who throws a tantrum when he doesn’t get his own way, but you republicans go ahead and support this spoiled frat boy who refuses to grow up and face his responsibilities, preferring to blame everyone else for his mistakes. Typical.
I’m trying to get all this political stuff straightened out in my head so I’ll know how to vote come November. Right now, we have one guy saying one thing. Then the other guy says something else. Who do we believe? Lemme see; have I got this straight?

Ahh, it’s so confusing!
Every year an independent tax watchdog group analyzes the average tax burden on Americans, and then calculates the “Tax Freedom Day.” This is the day after which the money you earn goes to you, not the government. This year, tax freedom day was April 11th. That’s the earliest it has been since 1991. Its latest day ever was May 2nd, which occurred in 2000. Notice anything special about those dates?
Recently, John Kerry gave a speech in which he claimed Americans are
actually paying more taxes under Bush, despite the tax cuts. He gave no explanation and provided no data for this claim.
Another interesting fact: Both George Bush and John Kerry are wealthy men.
Bush owns only one home, his ranch in Texas. Kerry owns 4 mansions, all worth several million dollars. (His ski resort home in Idaho is an old barn brought over from Europe in pieces. Not your average A-frame).
Bush paid $250,000 in taxes this year; Kerry paid $90,000. Does that sound right? The man who wants to raise your taxes obviously has figured out a way to avoid paying his own.
