RealNetworks posts RealPlayer 10 beta for Mac OS X

“RealNetworks has posted RealPlayer 10b, a new beta of its video playback application, as anticipated earlier this week. 1. Shouldn’t this announcement have been included in the one above it, thus making it the >>>29th<<< piece of spyware? Won’t make it onto my machine, that’s for sure.

  2. Well Realplayer is better than WIndows Media Player but both lose to Quicktime. I wish everybody would off content in all three. It sucks to have to watch something on WMP, the quality is really bad.

  3. What? They support QuickTime and AAC? Where is the CEO from Real who said that Apple must support WMP things? Now it happens that Real must support QT things instead. They must pay license fees to Apple and that is nice.

My new machine does not have Real or WMP in it and never will. I agree with iSteve.. if it isnt in QT it isnt worth wathcing.

  4. “Air UnAmerica you mean! What a pile of crap station!!!!!!”

What’s the matter? Do the cold hard facts of reality hurt that much?

Once you get some psychiatric help to remove those Fox News mind control chips, I think you might see things differently. That is, supposing you still have a brain left after the right wing brainwashing sessions you have obviously been subjected to. ;o) That is, assuming you had a brain in the first place, which a good 80% of republicans are missing.

  5. Old news maybe but I haven’t seen this before.

I haven’t installed RealPlayer because of the included spyware however it seems the BBC has it’s own spyware-free OEM version.

“I hate Real Player! I hate it because of the adware and spyware that gets installed with their free player. The BCC has a Spyware/Adware Free Real Player available for download from their site!

Apparently, The BBC made a unique deal with Real Networks which disposes of their spyware tactics. Basically, if a user clicks on a link to download Real Player from a BBC website, the referrer script sends them to a page where they can download an expiry-free, spyware-free and nuicance-free version of the player. Its because the BBC have such a stringent public service remit, that it was offensive to charge people a license fee for BBC content, then make them pay all over again for the facility to view/listen to it.

  6. There is not and has never been spyware in RealPlayer. The BBC distribution differs only in the marketing included in the Windows player download. RealPlayer 10 for Mac OS X is just a drag-install, native Mac application.
