Apple Retail Store coming to Brooklyn

“At long last, Apple has landed in Williamsburg,” Steve Cuozzo reports for The New York Post.

“Ending years of speculation, the tech-products powerhouse has signed a long-term lease for a 20,000-square-foot store at 247 Bedford Ave. at the corner of North 3rd Street, brokerage community sources definitively revealed,” Cuozzo reports. “It will be Apple’s long-awaited first Brooklyn location.”

“The two-story brick structure, a few blocks from the Bedford Avenue L station, is getting a whole new look, featuring dramatic, arched windows, to be completed in April 2015,” Cuozzo reports. “The Commercial Observer once wrote that precisely where Apple would make its Brooklyn retail debut ‘has been a commercial real-estate industry parlor game for at least five years’ — and that story ran more than a year ago. One possible location after another buzzed through the rumor mill.”

  1. This is the culmination, and the complete validation, of the profound transformation of Williamsburg over the past decade and a half. When a city neighbourhood gets an Apple store, it means that it has finally arrived. It is quite telling that the first New York City store outside of Manhattan happens to be in Williamsburg…

      1. Really? I didn’t know that. When I googled “apple stores in NYC”, only the ones in Manhattan come up. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised; google is probably one of those that don’t consider Staten Island part of the greater New York City…

  2. are they kidding? They should be opening in Brooklyn Heights / Cobble hill area . Williamsburg is a nightmare to get to if you live in Brooklyn. Its easier to get the Prince St than Williamsburg- ugh

  3. That’s my neighborhood, and the local Apple users are currently very well served by a little place called Mikey’s Hookup. So although I am thrilled to be getting a bona fide House That Steve Built, for me this is a bittersweet news day. Mikey’s Hookup is truly a gem but no way can they survive just a few blocks away from the mother ship.
