Things to consider before buying an iPhone 6 Plus

“The 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus is a marvelous device, perhaps the best Apple handset I have ever owned. But it’s far from perfect,” Bryan M. Wolfe writes for App Advice. “Don’t get me wrong, I love my iPhone 6 Plus and have no plans of replacing it with the smaller iPhone 6. But after using the device for nearly two weeks, I’ve become convinced that this is the end of the road for me, as far as smartphone screen sizes go. I’ll never buy an iPhone with a screen size larger than 5.5-inches diagonally.”

“Even though the phone’s limitations have forced me to rethink how I use and carry a smartphone, I can’t get enough of its larger screen,” Wolfe writes. “So should you buy an iPhone 6 Plus? As I noted soon after receiving my device, this is a personal choice. If you are willing to take extra care of your device and like being challenged by a learning curve, go for it. Otherwise, stick with the iPhone 6.”

“If you do decide to buy an iPhone 6 Plus, I suggest buying a $99 AppleCare+ subscription to extend your warranty to two years,” Wolfe writes. “I didn’t do this initially, but based on my experience, did so just a few days ago. You have 60 days from the time of purchase to buy the coverage.”

  1. You just made Bryan Wolfe’s day. He may be a nice guy but he’s neither the most objective nor the most informed when it comes to Apple, iDevices, gadgets, apps…ad nauseam. AppAdvice is another site that’s more obsesed with clicks and views than balanced, well-researched information and well-thought-out views.

  2. I called an Apple rep yesterday and she told me the Apple store does not offer all the plans that the carriers offer. For example, she told me if a user wants T-Mobile then the full price of the phone must be paid at the time of sale. T-mobile stores offer $100 down and payments. If users want to sign up with other carriers then the only plans offered at the Apple store are two-year contracts.

And, by the way, did I mention how spectacular the new phones are!?! I thought the iPhone 5 was a work of art, but the 6’s blow it out of the water. It’s like a something aliens with super advanced technology would use as their daily drivers. They are out of this world cool. Bravo Apple.

  3. You can’t even buy an iPhone 6 Plus let alone use one. Thank you Apple for your perpetually irritating, intentional, Tickle Me Elmo strategy of making people wait ridiculous amounts of time while you distribute product worldwide. Maybe if Tim Cook spent less time marching in gay pride parades would help?
