Apple’s next-gen iPad Air may get memory boost to 2GB, iWatch said to pack 512 MB with 8GB storage

“Sources from Apple’s supply chain have informed the Taiwanese TechNews that Apple will use 2 GB of RAM in the iPad Air 2, fueling speculation about a split-screen multitasking feature,” István Fekete reports for iPhone in Canada.

“On the other hand, Apple may stick with only 1 GB of RAM for the iPad mini 3 as it did with the iPad mini 2. The first-generation iPad mini packs only 512 MB of RAM,” Fekete reports. “The same sources spoke about the highly anticipated iWatch, as well. According to these supply chain whispers, the Apple smartwatch will incorporate 512 MB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage (just like the entry-level iPhone 4).”

    1. This article may be total BS, although I truly hope that the increased RAM in the iPad Air 2 is true.

But calling BS on the article because of the whispered 8GB of internal storage in the iWatch is rather hasty. 8GB of storage is really not that much, anymore. It could be used to store a bunch of health data, for instance. Besides, the iWatch, itself, is still just a rumor.

  1. I love these iWatch rumours, especially the “supply chain” and “those close to the situation” bullshit.

The only clues to what Apple is up to are Heath-Kit and all the fashion and medical hires lately. Also the IBM alliance. IBM are huge in medical world.

Only Apple knows where they’re going with this long term.

  2. My iPad 3 is still pretty great but I do notice it’s getting a little pokey. Problem going into the Apple Store is their WiFi seems to be on ideal steroids so everything there seems blazing fast. (Well it doesn’t hurt being the latest and greatest too.).
