RUMOR: Apple’s iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, and iPhone 5 specs and prices leaked

The following tip comes from a single source and is therefore designated as “RUMOR.”

That said, this sole source has provided reliable information of Apple’s moves in the past, most notably the name change from iPhone OS to iOS.

All prices are carrier subsidized prices (two-year contract) in US dollars.

Unlocked prices are unknown. Sprint will “definitely” join AT&T Mobility and Verizon Wireless as iPhone carriers in the U.S.

Apple’s iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, and iPhone 5 specs and prices:

• iPhone 4, 8GB, A4, 512MB RAM, 5 MP main camera, black (GSM) – $0
• iPhone 4, 8GB, A4, 512MB RAM, 5 MP main camera, white (GSM) – $0
• iPhone 4, 8GB, A4, 512MB RAM, 5 MP main camera, black (CDMA) – $0
• iPhone 4, 8GB, A4, 512MB RAM, 5 MP main camera, white (CDMA) – $0

• iPhone 4S, 16GB, A5, 1GB RAM, 5 MP main camera, black (GSM/CDMA) – $99
• iPhone 4S, 16GB, A5, 1GB RAM, 5 MP main camera, white (GSM/CDMA) – $99
• iPhone 4S, 32GB, A5, 1GB RAM, 5 MP main camera, black (GSM/CDMA) – $199
• iPhone 4S, 32GB, A5, 1GB RAM, 5 MP main camera, white (GSM/CDMA) – $199

• iPhone 5, 16GB, A5, 1GB RAM, 8 MP main camera, (GSM/CDMA) – $199 (source unsure if this model will be offered at this price or at all)
• iPhone 5, 32GB, A5, 1GB RAM, 8 MP main camera, (GSM/CDMA) – $299
• iPhone 5, 64GB, A5, 1GB RAM, 8 MP main camera, (GSM/CDMA) – $399

MacDailyNews Note: If this is indeed Apple’s new iPhone lineup, assume that, unlike iPhone 4S and iPhone 5, the iPhone 4 will not be able to run the new iOS 5 “Assistant feature. Rumors also point to a bigger screen for iPhone 5.

  1. As of a couple weeks ago, Android was in the lead with 746 known viruses and malware active vs. the iPhone’s ZERO.

    Pick your poison. 🙂

If the iPhone 5 has a different resolution screen, it REALLY REALLY breaks the development simplicity. Compared to RIM’s 22 different screen resolutions and aspect ratios, and similar, although not as bad, Android development fragmentation, the iPhone is an application developers dream!

  2. i think this is too many models. rather:

    – very short-lived clearance to get rid of all present iphone 4 models… aggressive, say $150 off current pricing (ie $50 for 16gb, $150 for 32gb). there should not be many left in the supply chain so the profit impact will be non-issue. they have to kill the 4’s shell design altogether because of the fundamental antennae design-flaws of the perimeter metal. they will not carry forward that flaw (whether they ever admit it was a flaw or not). good strategy.

    – no confusing separate 4S and 5, rather will bestow to the world “the new iphone”. better from a marketing standpoint… however, this time, more models/versions in a wider spec range:

    1. LOW-END: a5 / 512 ram / 8gb / 5mp cam / new 4+” screen / gsm OR cdma / black only – ie basically same as iphone 4 but with a5 chip, slightly larger screen and the new shell design… $99. This model fills that previous role of continuing to offer a discounted “earlier generation… but it is clearly “more” than that. this is the “4S” that people are rumoring, but it will be called an “iPhone 5″… perhaps “5e” or some other “economy” suffix.

    2. MAINSTREAM: a5 / 1gb ram / 16 or 32gb / 8mp cam / gsm+cdma “worldphone” chip / 4+” new screen / black OR white… $199 (16gb), $299 (32gb). This will be called “iPhone 5”, with no suffixes and be the basis for all global marketing

    3. HIGH-END / “PRO”: same as #2 but with 64gb or 128gb ram, and “lte” (hspda+) capable version of gsm+cdma chip… new all-SILVER color (only)… $399 (64gb), $499 (128gb).

there is obviously a market for a $500 iphone amongst the apple faithful. they will leap at #3 and happily spend $200 more for the “promise” of lte (even if it takes several more years to be widespread) and for the ego-bump of being the one on the subway with the “silver iphone”.

      I see it very differently:

      I’m betting the following:
      1) They keep all three product lines going, just as described in the article,
      2) The 4S will have the new A5 chip, 1G ram but will KEEP the iphone 4 form factor
      3) The iphone 5 will have the 4 inch screen (thus providing an iphone upgrade path both for people who want a larger screen, and the 4S for those who don’t. A lot of polls indicate people are truly divided on screen size)
      4) The iphone 4 keeps going, unchanged just as the 3GS did, for the very low end of the market. Apple knows it has to fight Android dominance at the low end and this free+contract iphone4 will do it.

      Pete
